United Kingdom Doctor Who complete 6th Series

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Docto...Blu-ray/28335/

Part 2 seems to be up for order but no sign of a complete set yet - anyone heard anything?

Will be annoyed if they don't release a full set including A Christmas Carol

Nothing has been announced yet.
I bet something will turn up though by the time the last part of season 6 has finished on TV.

Will probably get a November/December release like Series 5.

The Complete 6th Series:

Limited Edition (Silence Slipcase + Artcards)

£48.69
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-C...8939783&sr=1-2

Standard Edition

£44.97
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-C...8939783&sr=1-3

Release date: November 21st

Amazon currently has the cheapest price. And if you are looking to get the limited edition set without that stupid little action figure, then you can either get the 6th season from Amazon or HMV, though it costs a bit more on HMV.com.

I go for the standard version...when the price drops because these prices are way too high!

I don't mind the prices (preordered Silence version), but for the prices, I wish we had gotten another steelbook. Oh well.

I always preorder the Doctor, whatever the cost, as I live outside of the UK and am always dying to see the new season. I really cannot say what's so compelling about the series. The only things I preorder regardless are releases from Masters of Cinema and then this. Not very consistent I suppose....

I didn't get the steelbook last year - I'm also one who waits until it drops in price (taking my cue form the DVD boxsets which dropped to under £20 from around £50 after about six months - though I settled on S5's blu-ray for £30) but it's a shame they didn't carry it on for those who did. Would have looked awesome having three or four big steelbooks like that and would have seperated the Matt Smith era from the others.

Is there anything special about The Silence slipcase - i.e. is it holographic or lenticular (it should at least change into an open-mouthed version)? Or is it just because it's only out with the first batch? As it is it looks quite ugly to me, like they've just cut the face out from a bigger picture and slapped it on a black box.

According to the original Play.com listing, the Silence head is slightly embossed, and since every retailer is getting the Silence edition, I think it's fair to say that they will all be embossed.

The artcards are lenticular though.

I've always bought special edition versions of the boxsets, mainly because it's my second favorite franchise (1st being Stargate).

What I own:

A handful of the Classic series on DVDs. I am slowly getting them all. "The Time Warrior" signed by Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah-Jane Smith). "Spearhead From Space" signed by Nicholas Courtney (Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart). "The Robots Of Death" signed by Louise Jameson (Leela). "Earthshock" signed by Mtthew Waterhouse (Adric). "New Beginnings Boxset (The Keeper of Traken, Logopolis, Castrovalva)" signed by Sarah Sutton (Nyssa). "The Curse Of Fenric" signed by Sylvester McCoy (7th Doctor) and Sophie Aldred (Ace).

Season 27 {series 1} - 2nd printing thinner case (first version was larger, but fell apart easily)

Season 28 {series 2} - Original lenticular printing release (it was released again, but the 2nd version didn't have lenticular images on the front or back). It also had a Amazon.co.uk exclusive Cyberman head release, but again, poor build quality.

Season 29 {series 3} - Amazon.co.uk exclusive "The Master" lenticular edition

Season 30 {series 4} - HMV Exclusive "Honeycomb Effect" slipcase edition (Red Supreme Dalek on the back). Alex Kingston (River Song) signed it for me.

The 2009 Specials - DVD version. I wanted to end David Tennants run the way it had started, on DVD. No special edition was released.

Season 31 {series 5} - Limited edition steelbook. My first blu-ray Doctor Who purchase. The blu-ray era belongs to Matt Smith.

And like I said, I have the Silence limited edition on pre-order.

That's exactly what I went for - and the same reasoning - for the DVD/blu-ray divide.

I see that you went to the HMV autograph event today. Wish I could've gone to meet Matt, Karen and Arthur again.

My Silence slipcase version hasn't turned up from Amazon yet, but then again, I don't know which delivery speed work chose for it!

Yep. My second job that I work at bought it for me, based on a reward system!

Can't wait for it to turn up!

I was suprised at how well organised the whole thing was, and had a fantastic seat for the Q&A afterwards

I thought about getting the Silence version but the slipcase wont sit too well on the shelf, its more than embossed, you'll see what i mean when you get it

Worth the wait if work are paying for it!

As long as it's not hugely embossed to the point of basically being a full mask on a slipcase, then I think it will be fine. If it is however, I'll just either be extra careful when handling it, or put it on display somewhere. I don't know either way since I didn't get to see it instore today.

In either case, I'm eager to get it! And I'm also happy that work saved me from spending almost £50!

On the signing event, I figured it would be better handled than the HMV Oxford Street fiasco from last year. Yeah I got the autographs, but that day was scary in that HMV!

Still nothing in the post for me today. Knowing my luck, it'll probably turn up tomorrow while I am out all day.

Watched A Christmas Carol, which looked excellent. The "Night and the Doctor" scenes are ace, except for the last one, which more like a deleted scene from "Closing Time".
