Default "Protect" Flashing W/ Terminator:Salvation

This has not happened to me for a very long while. You can see my set up in my sig but my sony receiver would flash "PROTECT" and mute my audio during loud scenes during Terminator: Salvation (granted I was watching it somewhat louder than normal). I am guessing this is because it is trying to "protect" my speakers. My question is would this happen if I upgraded my front speakers to the Polk Monitor 60 or 70s? Is it because my speakers cant handle it or because my receiver cant???

ANY info/suggestions/insight would be great!
Thanks ahead y'all.

You are likely hitting a power or heat threshold. Do you have the receiver well ventilated?

It's sitting on a glass tv stand by itself about 2 feet from my tv. Should I move it else where?

It is your amp that is suffering. Glass is not always your amp's best friend.

Make sure your connections are sound. I had mine do that when my cat had managed to trip over my wire and pull out a single strand of the wire and it would go into protect mode with the volume up.

Your reciever is protecting itself from recieving a message from Skynet to blow up your house. Don't worry, it's working properly... for now.

So are you still getting video while the receiver is flashing "PROTECT"?

Yeah the video is there. It literally turns the volume all the way down and if don't do anything it turns off the receiver. But if I turn the volume up just a little to something just above "Min." it will stop the whole "Protect" issue. If I let it be and it turns off the receiver then when I turn it on the volume is all the way down and I can turn it back up.
