Default Two Bad Movies

So I visit Blockbuster about 2 nights a week and get 4-5 shows each time. For the past few months, I've had great luck in picking movies to watch that dont suck. But, the last two I've watched... are failures. The first was Adaptation with Nicholas Cage. Really? A movie about flowers. The wife and I both want our 2 hours of life back. The second was Funny People. I'm usually somewhat impressed with Adam Sandlers comedy, and Seth Rogen is AWESOME. But this movie just dragged on forever... to an extremely predictable, boring ending. After twenty minutes I knew what was coming and had nothing to look forward to. And so many penis jokes... the occasional is OK, but one after another...

Ug. At least I got Marley and Me to watch also, I dont think Jennifer Aniston is going to disappoint.

Well no one said you were gonna like every movie you see. And just because you don't like certain ones doesn't mean other people won't. This is the reason I don't blind buy anymore. It's just like buying one because you read a snippet of some critics review on the blu cover.

While we're at it folks.

I would highly recommend AVOIDING Sukiyaki Western Django.

Oy vey...it just went on and on.

It just wasn't for me and I got sucked into it because Quinten Tarantino was involved, but it wasn't very good at all.

I love Adaptation and liked Funny People

It's also a bit humorous to me that you summarized Adaptation as merely "a film about flowers."

You're excited about Marley and Me?

LOL come back and post after you watch the movie. You should be able to get a mod to change the title of the thread from two to three.

"Adaptation" is one of my favorite movies. I guess some people just don't like depth in their films.

Never seen "Funny People," but I wasn't too interested. I've just heard it's too long.

I'm not very picky about the movies I enjoy, which really surprised me to find two movies back to back, complete different styles, that I hated.

I never rent just bad movies though, I vary it. I also got two discs of MASH... those never disappoint. : ) Crazy army antics... cute nurses... cant beat it.

Edit: I'm expecting Marley and Me to be decent atleast, we've had similar funny shenanigans with large dogs. And about Adaptation... If I want to think about something, I read. Super Troopers is just about my favorite movie, followed very closely by Kung Fu Panda.

That would have been a great line in Funny People.

LOL!! that's hilarious. I thought Funny People was very good and I hate Nic Cage but Adaptation was pretty good and definitely went beyond just "flowers".

I really don't see the point of creating threads about movies you don't like. A thread about PQ and AQ is a different story.

Everyone has different opinions. If anything, create a user review on this site and move on.

EDIT: "Mash"? i'd rather use steel wool to play with myself. Obviously a generation thing going on here.

Cheers

Can't relate with you on Adaptation--great movie.

Funny People, on the other hand, is an over-long, mess of a film. I actually felt bad for the actors because they largely did a fine job, but Apatow's 'vision' just lacked focus, direction, or even much of a story at all.

I'm 23, in the military. Granted MASH is a long time ago, I still find it a hilarious show, some still correlates with the military today.

Adaptation is one of the most genius, complex films that has come out in the 2000's. Very very good. The film was NOT about flowers silly. The underneath message and what the flowers represent are what makes the film a masterpiece. An incredible screenply+fantastic cast - oh and Meryl Streep <3

I'll be honest- I haven't seen any of them, but I couldn't resist at the cheap shot. I do know enough about Marley and Me to think that you might be a bit disappointed.

Adaptation was a great movie.

Funny People, I found the script to be quite problematic. Especially when it had a gazillion penis jokes. What was up with that?

I can't believe you wouldn't expect a movie with Seth Rogen to not have a penis joke every 5 minutes. His whole career revolves around penis jokes.

I thought his whole career had to do with stoner jokes and weight jokes.
