Default Best Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner?

I am in the market for a new bagless vacuum cleaner. I bought a Hoover Mach 5 less than a year ago and it bit the dust. I really want something that performs well and is going to last. I am heavily leaning towards Dyson, but I am just not sure it is worth paying that much for a vacuum that might not even perform as well as some other vacuums.

Thoughts...Opinions????

I know some people who swear by their Dyson's, but I don't know if they're being honest, or if they bought into the hype and don't want to regret their purchase, so they've convinced themselves it's the greatest vacuum they've ever had.

That being said, the Dyson vacuum with the ball is pretty cool. I played around with it in a store, and it was fun. That doesn't mean it's a great vacuum though (it wasn't plugged in, I was just rolling it around on the floor).

I'll just stop typing now, because I don't think I'm helping at all.

Yeah, I'm just not sure if Dyson is the new Kirby without the salespeople...

Jason, I have had my share of experiences with vacuum cleaners anywhere from Bissell to Eureka to Dirt Devil. They all lasted me about a year tops and then were worthless. I bought the Dyson Ball vacuum approx. 6 months ago and so far it has been the best vacuum yet. I am not trying to boost Dyson in any way, but seriously...IMO it is worth the extra money. The build quality on these things is top-notch and the customer service seems to be great as well. They even have technical support 24-7 if you need that.

The way I figure it...I got tired of spending $100-$150 every one to two years, and I expect this Dyson will last me much longer.

This is the one I got at Target and they gave me a $50 dollar gift-certificate so I basically paid $350 for it.

I have to agree with you. I've had a Dyson ball for almost a year now, and it's great. It's expensive but worth it in my opinion. I'm always shocked how dirty the house gets in a weeks time.

Get a Dyson. It picks up stuff other vacuums don't.

Had a Dyson D17 refurb from eCost for about a year, three people and two dogs in the house.

It performs even better than expected, and I expected a lot.

i've also got a dyson. we put it through a test when we 1st got it. we cleaned the house w/the vaccum we had then we cleaned w/the new dyson. the canister had to be emptied 2x over the same area it picked so much up.

but u should do what u want and what you can afford. we got the $500 purple one b/c of 2 reason: 1: it had all of the attachments for pet owners and 2: i worked @ best buy @ the time we got it and got a really nice discount!!!

He DOES NOT want to try any funny business w/ a Dyson! Use the Dyson for the dirty carpet and pick up a $69 Dirt Devil at Walmart for any other "alternative" vacuum uses.

What -- no puns about how Dyson vacuum cleaners "suck"? I'm disappointed.

I had a Eureka canister vac that was the worst ever and a few days ago my wife said so buy a new vac.

After looking at some I bought a Bissell Momentum at BJ's for $89. It's amazing. I love it. I've vacuumed the whole house and both cars and I just love how clean everything is. As I walk around the house I just smile because the carpets looks so much better.

The Dyson is too expensive for me.
