Was that the ABC After school specials? I sort of remember seeing them in the early 80's when I was teen. I never really watch any of them however.

Yes Wide World Of Sports was amazing, the theme song and that poem/intro the guy was saying, it was just great. And you had that Norvegian skier crashing hard on his take off. I remember this was one of the few ways to get other sports beside the regular baseball/basketball/football on TV back then. You could see ski and bosleight and all sort of sports.

Well cable with special station make's it possible now to have everything/all the time. Heck here in Montreal we had only these channels in the 70's

Radio Canada
Canadian Broadcasting
Tele Metropole
Canadian Television
Radio Quebec

and then if you were lucky, depending on the weather, wind and rain
ABC
CBS
NBC
PBS

But for some reason NBC was always a nightmare to catch in our old house, we hardly ever got it.

They brings back memories of the tv antenna or if u were in the ghetto and had a broke antenna we would use ahnager or aluminum foil hahahahaha!! Man did yall have that channel 40? It was weird. The tv u would turn from like channel 2 up to 13 then if u put it on sumthin like uhf or sumthin and then u turn the other nob to channel 40 and thats were stuff like Sesame Street came on! Classic! Got Em!!

In 1983-84 there was an ABC After School Special called "I want to go home" which starred a very young Seth Green. A classmate of mine had a very small role in this special as well. He played one of the bullies that beat up Green.

I may be dating myself here but...Does anyone remember going outside at night in the rain, cold, whatever to spin the antenna to get reception for your dad?

"Keep going, keep going. Stop! Back a little. Little more. Stop!........little more.

The day we finally got cable I cried.

Things were just a bit more innocent I guess back then. I mean when I was 12 years old, there was no way I could see a naked women anytime I wanted too Had to steal a Playboy from the local store. Now a days, kids can see a heck of a lot more then I ever did at 12 in one click of the mouse.
