Default 2009 : Breakthrough Year for...

Zoe Saldaña
Sam Worthington
Anton Yelchin

These three actors are certainly attracting a crowd after the movies they stared in this year.

Star Trek
T4
Avatar

Anyone else see the correlation here ? Just thought I would poin it our for people who didn't.

yeah, its interesting how two of the three ended up being each of those movies...though I think Sam Worthington will end up being the bigger star of the three, Anton Yelchin is probably the better actor out of the group

Yeah... Zoe was very good in Avatar... But Anton is the best of the bunch.
I guess Worthington has star presence. He is easy to point out.

I think Anton is one of the best there, he nailed all his roles this year.
Zoe was really good in Avatar, you would struggle to get a more emotional performance from live actors.
But I think the one who has most his future ahead of him is Sam Worthington, he's gonna be showing a lot more often from now on.

Funny, when I read the title those are the first 3 that came to mind. Worthington is the only one I've committed to memory. He will have the first chance to see if he can carry a movie in March with Clash of the Titans. The remake status and effects will ease the burden though.

Zoe was ok in Star Trek, but great in Avatar and critics took notice.

Anton is proving to be a great character actor and I look forward to seeing what he does. I don't see him ever being a lead, but he will probably elevate any movie he is cast in.

I agree with you 100%. Those are also 2 of my absolute favorite films of 2009.

I'd say he did a pretty good lead in Charlie Bartlet. Held down some pretty impressive screen time with RDJ as well.

Can it be directors too? If so, then Neil Blomkamp (District 9) and James Cameron (Avatar)

If it were actors, then I would say Sam Worthington and Jackie Earle Haley

Haven't seen that yet, actually never heard of it. Might check it out.

I'd have to agree with that, with Cameron it's more likely a 'relief that it's finally finished and out' than breakthrough.

It's actually pretty awesome, Kat Dennings {sp?}is in it as well.

I almost forgot about Hayley.
And yes, Neil Blomkamp has also got a good amount of attention this year.

Let's not forget about Chris Pine. This guy's gonna be huge.

He was excellent in Star Trek and was also great in the underrated Carriers.
