Default Sony BDV-E500W

Hey guys, I recently purchased this particular HTiB system. Main reason being it has the wireless speakers which I find convenient. Yes I know they aren't as good as having all of your speakers directly connected, but I really can't have any wires running throughout the entire room.

Here's my question: Will I be able to upgrade the replace the cable with different and better speaker cable?

The only reason i doubt it, is because of the way the speaker wire is connected to the actual receiver. It has the standard and normal connection to the speakers, but they have "plug-in's" when it comes to connecting them to the receiver.

Thanks again guys.

Thumbs down Sony

Nope. As is with the case of many HTiB's, Sony is using proprietary plugs. And, the speakers are rated at 1.5 - 3 Ohm. I don't think you can find any decent speakers rated at this impedence even if you could switch speaker wires. I'm afraid that you're out of luck on this one. And that's too bad considering what the list price on this system is.

But it's still not that bad a system to use for movies. I am not fooling myself into believing that it's the best system ever but it's adequate.
