Default Bug spray

Hey for all you guys who live with the wonderful world of ants.

I live in Tucson out at the edge of city so ants can be a wonderful problem from May - Sept..... usually I spray Bayer Advanced Bug spray around the perimeter once a month...

this year I also decided I probably should try to kill off the ant hills as well as just perimeter spray and decided to go with
Spectracide fire ant mound killer.... so far seems to be worthless. thinking of going more exp and going with Amdro granules.... anyone have any good ant mound killers that they would recommend or is Amdro the best??? (just a bit more exp than spectracide or the bayer poison)

ALSO has anyone had exp with this spry

http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Ga...atalogId=10053

didn't know if it was one of those "you get what you pay for" type spray's or does it work as a good barrier spray around the home

LASTLY

since I have to do it so often. how is that "pro" grade stuff like Talstar P and Bifen IT concentrated formula??? I can get it for $20-$30 a pint and a pint makes 16 gallons of spray (vs. paying $10+tax for a gallon of the premade over the counter stuff like Raid, Bayer or Ortho at Home Depot)... if it's that effective for that price $2-$3 per gallon seems to be a better deal. just never dealt with that stuff before being that we bought our first house 2 years ago this coming august and never had to do this crap before.

If they are simple small black ants, I leave them alone.
I live in an 110 year old weatherboard home. It is known they attack white ants,
so I figure I need all the protection I can get without the need for pesticides.

these are the tiny black and red ones.... and if I DONT take care of them.. they will literally swarm the house... I can see a 1 foot wide by over 30 foot long stream of them going to the cat food or crap left on the floor etc..... can wake up in the morning to have my feet coated in them when I step off the bed etc... nasty nasty little bast@rds. I hate to spray a barrier once a month just to make sure we don't get swarmed

You need to get the Raid outdoor ground spikes. You put these as so: 2 at each entrance of your house and one at each corner. On the inside you need to get the raid bait/poison discs. I put one in each bathroom under the sink. Three in the kitchen, one by the back door and one under the sink, also, one in the space between the refrigerator and the counter. Lastly, one by the front door. After doing this, in one week I was ant free. You have to replace them annually.

When I was a kid, we used to have huge fireant problems on our five acre property (not anymore). In our experience, Amdro is indeed the real deal.
