Default Polk Monitor 30's to big for surrounds!

Hey guys, I made an idiot move and went ahead and bought these monitor 30's off newegg because they were on sale for like $85. Well I received them today and there way to big for where they sit for my surrounds. I have to unroll my surrounds everytime i want to listen to 5.1 audio because of the way my house is setup. Can Anyone please recommend new surround speakers that are smaller, and would go with my polk monitor 60's and cs2?????

If there was a picture of your configuration it would make it a little easier to help make recommendations. Also your surround speakers can be from any brand, it's not crucial to have all your speakers from the same manufacturer (except for the front sound stage most people would say). Anyways sounds like you need a satellite sized speaker, Polk, Energy, and Mirage immediately come to mind. There is a great deal on Athena satellites right now (I believe they are owned by Klipsch) here:

go to http://www.wwstereo.com and order the Energy C-50 speakers, they are about $90 free shipping and it is about 5" wide, 9" tall, 8" deep and weighs about 6.5 lbs.

I use one for my 6th speaker in a 6.1 and it is a great speaker. Good bass from it in a 4" drive. Sound will be smooth and detailed. Surrounds don't have to match the front 3 speakers so you can mix and match. But the C-series will sound close enough to the polks that it won't sound odd...

You could use the Polk OWM3 for surrounds. They are smaller and blend in well in a corner. You can see how I have them placed in my pictures. I have used them for nearly a year and I like them very much. I have a CS10 and T90e's (euro monitor 60's) in my front stage and the OWM3's blend very well with them.

I use the 30s for rear and side surrounds the monitor 40s were way too much for surrounds. The rm6750 should be small enough. They may not give you the depth that you are looking for.

Too big?, man I'm rolling with TSi200's for surrounds and TSi100's for surround backs, I love'em! Of course I understand that you want something smaller than the 30's & I respect that. however, given your post hopefully you and everyone else learned that you should always know what you want with respects to it's size relative to where you need to put it and the surroundings. you demonstrate what can happen to us sometimes from impulse buying. (not getting on you, just saying) i'm sure we have all done it to some degree or another. despite asking us for recommendations, i noticed you haven't mentioned the size you need to fit properly or models you have looked at already; have you done those things? it ultimately is a guessing game for us as to what will best fit and/or sound best. you really need to put out there options based on size and function what you are thinking of and perhaps ask for opinions based on that. you could have folks writing in for days and not see something you like. so give us some of the speakers you have looked at that fit your needs and we'll reply to that.

Man Ur crazy if you think Monitor 40s ( tsi200s ) are perfect for surroud.. They are huge. Way to big for a dual 5 1/4 .. They look like a smaller front stage.. Unless you are just rich and your house is to big )

hee-haw, i'm sure you've seen my gallery, so you know i'm not rich! I do love those 200's & 100's for my 4 surrounds and they work great let me tell ya! seriously, that's another reason i told the OP he needs to give us his choices and we'll give him opinions! Oh, when playing PS3 games, in 7.1, those TSi's make all the difference! The 200's also are sweet when listening to SACD's or DVD-A's. and both the 100's & 200's are incredible in either 5 or 7.1 for blu-ray movies!

your only on the rock one time so you damn well better enjoy it!

Honestly, voice matched surrounds are nice. I don't know if the RM6751 speakers share a tweeter with the monitor 60s, but I'd be willing to bet they don't have the same presence.

Imagine, if you will, a plane flying overhead. It just wouldn't be realistic for you to hear a throaty drone diminish into a tinny rattle midflight.

I just got some monitor 40's that I will be hooking up when I go back home for my fronts. I was planning on moving those to the rear once I get some towers for the front when I finish the basement.

I have some RM6750 as my rears and that is probably exactly what your looking for.

Ya i was looking for the rm6751 speakers but I think im just going to make the Polk 30's work, basically im just going to do deal with the size of them, they only come out when i watch movies, and thats usually on the weekends. Im sorry for starting this thread and many others. I am just in for instant gratification and impulse buying is my worst trademark. The 30's will match my 60's way better than downgrading so hey someday when i get a new place ill the basement around my speakers..... HEE HAW

I'm using Monitor 60's for fronts, 50's for side surrounds and 30's for rears with CS-1 center and with an AA HD-SUB 12 it sounds absolutely great!!!

How can the 30s be "too much" for surrounds? I certainly wouldn't trust speakers smaller than the 30s. I don't want my sound to "windle" out when going over to my rears (like satellites).

The best setups will have floor-standings all around anyhow. You think that's too much?

Smaller sized living room, and I got 30s on my rears, and they rule.

Perhaps you could compare rm6751 speakers to the monitor 30s and return the ones you don't care for. Be sure to use a surround heavy bluray.
