From what I've heard:

1. Drag Me to Hell - Christopher Young
2. Star Trek - Michael Giacchino
3. Avatar - James Horner
4. Up - Michael Giacchino
5. G.I. Joe - Alan Silvestri

Kind of a lackluster year for scores.

I've scaled back on soundtrack buying a lot in the past few years. I think the only new soundtracks I bought this year are Star Trek, Up, Watchmen (music compilation) and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I've got a lot of Michael Giacchino soundtracks now (MI3, The Incredibles, Alias, even the latest Space Mountain soundtrack for Disneyland), and I find myself comparing him a bit to Henry Mancini's genius in terms of their ability to create refreshing but commercial scores.

I really am enjoying Half-Blood Prince. It's the best score to an HP movie since Azkaban (sp), and one of the better ones from this year that i've heard. that being said, i haven't heard a lot of the others from this year.
