Wow either you guys have some bad taste in films or you don't know how many great movies were released in 1984. I understand if you like Breakin', Friday the 13th, Silent Night, Toxic Avenger and such but listing them above about a dozen other 1984 films is odd even if this is a personal opinion poll.

These are some of my favorites from 1984 in alpha order. This year was clearly one of the best ever in film history probably right behind 1939.

Amadeus
Beverly Hills Cop
Cloak & Dagger
Dune
Firestarter
Ghostbusters
Gremlins
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
The Karate Kid
The Last Starfighter
Missing In Action
Moscow on the Hudson
The Natural
The NeverEnding Story
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Police Academy
Red Dawn
Revenge of the Nerds
Sixteen Candles
Splash
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
The Terminator
Top Secret!

I didn't list any of those. And I know exactly what was released in 1984.

Woah Czar, how can you bold A Neverending Story like that? Clearly that was the best movie of 1984! Too many great childhood memories!

But seriously, for me, in no particular order:

Ghostbusters
Termintaor
A Neverending Story
Gremlins
Revenge of the Nerds
The Karate Kid
Temple of Doom
Amedeus
Beverly Hills Cop
Police Academy

Again I wasnt knockin Neverending Story, I was makin a point of the type of movie he listed like they were some deep touching films! Even yourself pretty much listed either kids films, or comedies. Again no knock but in 1984 there were some great comedies, horror and kid/teen films. Every year we dont have to list films like Amadeus etc.....for it to be great! Thats all Im sayin. U list what u liked and felt what was good is all!! Got Em!!

Czar, again wasn't knocking that the ones you listed weren't good either just not top 10 good and my list wasn't in any order but alphabetical. Most of the ones you bolded would not be in my top 10 but definitely above some of the ones others listed. I actually love Toxic Avenger for the B-movie it was but putting it over any of those other than maybe Splash and Sixteen Candles is wrong in my opinion.

Retablo there were 4 movies or so in your list I haven't seen so can't comment on them.

As for squidpuppet I don't see how you can think those movies are bad. I will take crap for Sixteen Candles and Splash as they would probably be the bottom 2 of my top 25 of the year but thinking Ghostbusters, Beverly Hills Cops, Indiana Jones and Nightmare on Elm Street are worth laughing at is questionable at best.

I hear ya but again I was combining good with favorites as well. I grew up watching the Toxic and loved it for what it was. No its not an academy award film but I dont give films credit for winning an award. I enjoyed it and I wanted to give its credit for where it was due! Thats all! Got Em!!
