Default Target selling BD hardware exclusively

hmmmmmmmm.

tantamount to saying HD DVD promotional group's numbers be damned, the BD player's the one where the sales are at...

I particularly enjoyed this bit:

Quote:
Two blockbuster films - "Spider-Man 3," from Sony and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" from Disney - will be available exclusively on Blu-ray.

The HD DVD camp will be counting on sales of the blockbuster film "300," from Warner Bros., which will be released in both formats, and the first season of the popular sci-fi TV show "Heroes," which will be available exclusively on HD DVD.

I was just coming back to post that.

Let's see how many major media outlets report the good news....

If Ken Graffeo worked for me he'd be s*itcanned in about a week. What a moron. Absolutely no perspective of the big picture whatsoever, and he flat out insults people by saying that they'll pretty much buy any raggedy product if it's cheap enough. He fails at life.

It will be interesting if this gives other retailers, especially those that also sell discs, the political comfort to solve their shelf space problem.

it's an AP article, so i'd imagine it's going to turn up everywhere.

already returning a ton more hits on google when you do a search for "target store blu ray"

Microsoft has got to paying Graffeo/Universal fat cash - that's the only thing that explains it.

Yes, the HD DVD kooks at AVS are going to be up late tonight trying to combat more bad news for HD DVD.

Pardon me whilst I quote Graffeo....

"HD DVD players are the most affordable," said Ken Graffeo, co-president of the North American HD DVD Promotional Group. "It's one thing to have a player featured, but it's another if it doesn't sell."

This idiot needs to get out more because everytime I go into Best Buy or Circuit City the S300 is sold out or there's one left on the shelf. Target selling this player is one of the best things that can happen for Blu-Ray this Christmas.

They are the cheapest. But, if you end up having to abandon HD DVD how does it make the format affordable?

I'm surprised he didn't say:

"Target doesn't sell Denon high-end gear, so we see the two announcements cancelling each other."

Me too. If that were true, we'd all be driving Kias, and BMW, Aston Martin, etc. wouldn't exist.

Once again, they totally are not counting the PS3 as a player, when we know many Blu-ray movie watchers opt for that.

I wish the article had mentioned it.

but how will the know a price for a device that is not inj the selection?

is it realy smart to think

guy goes to stroe sees one BD player for 400$ an other for 550$ and other for 600$ an other for 1000$ and an other for 2000$ and he will say, I don’t see an HD DVD player but I will buy that one because I am assuming if you had one it will be 100$.
