Default why would anyone own or buy a 480p plasma?

what's the advantage of it over crt? Don't crt's have progressive scan (480p) reoslutions with component for blue rays and dvd players as well? EVen old and cheap standard def tvs seem to have component inputs so what's the point of this esp since in standard def it probably would look a lot worse than crt (like for older gaming systems)?
