I did back then.....great f-14 footage but this was an enlistment tool for the Navy. I will never forget talking to a Navy recruiter (next to my AF recruiter) telling me all the guys coming in and asking "can I be a naval aviator?" and he said sure you can. Of course he didnt clue them in that you need a degree, go to OCS and be accepted into flight training...blah blah blah...wonder how many ended up scraping the barnacles off the bottom of ships?

U have to remember I was very young and I liked this movie back then. not sure how it would hold up now but I am going off back then and what i seen of recent. I know that movie got a bad rap but it was a perfect 80's cliche film. Remember I am basing my list off the goodness of the movie as well as guilty pleasure or simply growing up off of it. So whats up u dont like Top Gun, or Back to School?? Back to School has to be one the best and funniest comedies man! Got Em!!

Yeah they were good back then but my taste has changed in 23 years. Are we basing these lists off what we think now or back when we were that age?

I would say a combination. I mean Im sure there are some movies u watched back in 86 over and over that may not be considered a great film but u may love it. In that case I would list it. Got Em!!

Yeah but Back to School is no longer funny to me....just like Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Blues Brothers blah blah have not held up over time. Think I just watched them to many times back in the day.

Aliens
Blue Velvet
The Great Mouse Detective
Little Shop of Horrors
Mona Lisa

That's the best I could do. Admittingly, I haven't seen several films from that year, such as Jean de Florette or River's Edge.

This list would definitely look different if I were composing it in 1987. Since my tastes and perceptions have changed a bit, here is the current list...

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
2. Star Trek IV
3. Raw Deal
4. Youngblood
5. Gung Ho
6. The Fly
7. Heartbreak Ridge
8. Crocodile Dundee
9. Stand By Me
10. The Money Pit

No Top Gun. Although I liked it back then, I can't stand Tom Cruise now. Not only is he a nut, but he is miscast often.
