Default Help I can't hear anyone talking! *SOME SPOILERS*

well just today i popped in my 1st blu-ray movie which is 300. So when watching it I cannot hear anyone talking after the part when this dude brings these skulls on a black horse. I checked LPCM on my PS3 and checked off every 5.1 and 2.1 options for LPCM. What is wrong with my speakers???

here are the specs for the speakers

http://reviews.cnet.com/audio-system...1.html?tag=sub

Nothing in the specs linked says it supports 5.1 PCM via HDMI.

...cnet review-

"The one curious thing we noticed was that in order to hear audio over the system's tallboy speakers when using HDMI, the HT-TQ85's HDMI Audio On/Off selector must be set to Off. The On setting routes the audio through your TV's speakers."

does this help?

the light would come on for any PCM signal...2.0 included.

Im thinking the system can only handle 2.0

in the very beginning I could hear people talk, but after that scene I just described I couldn't hear anyone talking

but if it was PCM 2.0 then why would they have an HDMI Input and Output in the first place?

...and with the ps3, even the Dolby TrueHD track will be in PCM...

, so if youre only getting 2 channel, safe to say its not 5.1 pcm compatible...

I read through the user manual, and could find nothing on PCM.

on a side note...

on your remote control, the button "HDMI Audio"...make sure its set to "off"

AUDIO OFF : Video is transmitted over the HDMI connection cable only,
and audio is output through the home theater speakers only.

does this help with the audio, or do you already have this set to off?

...on the ps3 remote hit the "pop up/menu" button...this should let you select the "languages"...which is where you can select the audio.

oh ok,

and forgot to tell you this but the receiver is HDMI to DVI to the TV so the receiver automatically turns Audio off

...ok, a couple final try's and if none work, then your system is not 5.1pcm compatible.

for speakers Set C, SL,
and SR to SMALL.

also with the sound edit button, adjust center channel speaker to a higher dB setting.

...and for Dolby Prologic II effect, you should set "Matrix".

I have a feeling its not 5.1pcm capable, but these settings should be optimal for PS3 to output as bitstream.
