I've got like seventy pictures, but I'll just post a handful. I'm not done with this setup by a long-shot.. still have a few things on order, definitely some changes I'm going to make, but... it's up and running, at least! New X58 rig, Gateway 24'' 1920x1200, Audioengine 5.

Thanks guys. =) Yeah, 920.
It will look much cleaner soon. Basically, I bought six more of those 120mm fans which I'm getting sleeved, so there will be no visible black/red/yellow wires from them. The connectors are getting switched out for black ones as well. The three SATA cables I'm replacing with rounded right-angle SATA 3 cables which will be much lower-profile and won't bulge out past the front of the case like that. The power supply will be swapped for a modular one with each wire individually sleeved -- none of them will be exposed. That will also eliminate like 70% of the clutter in the bottom compartment. The side-mounted 120mm fans will be moved outside, allowing the 8-pin connector to come up through one of the cable management holes instead of over the front like that. When all that's in the bag, I picked up a 500mm x 500mm black hexa-comb mesh panel which I'm going to cut and mount on the front of the whole thing -- the only part that won't get covered is the blu-ray drive tray. That will help stealth some of the cables, and the components really do look mean when viewed through it. It's a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi. It's not mine, unfortunately.. I borrowed it to take some pictures of the computer. This thing blows me away.. I resized these pictures way down from their original resolution, too. The 120mm fans I have spin at 1600 RPM.. that's over 26 revolutions per second -- the logo on the front spins so fast it's just a total circular blur -- I snapped a close-up photo of the spinning fan, and in the picture the brand logo and fan blades were completely legible with zero blur... it looked like I had taken a picture with the fan sitting still. I couldn't believe it. Last edited by Koda; 01-15-2010 at 02:22 PM. |
