Default I've been decorating....

Greetings friends, I've been decorating to get rid of some basic white walls in our living room and dining room area. So I extended the bottom color onto my projector wall to give the illusion of looking at a theater screen (as the wife won't allow a screen at the mo!). I think the equuipment now looks nice as it stands out more. I painted the wall a "country white" flat which seems to work good, although not as good as a proper screen I'm sure. I've updated my gallery if anyone would care to check out some before and after shots.

Looks good jawsfan. I like the idea of the moulding to separate the 2 colors. How big is that wall anyway? You have some nice equipment too. One thing I have to ask is.....you say the wife won't allow a screen (I assume due to aesthetics?) but yet she tolerates the cables and wires hanging on the walls? I assume you are either working on hiding them or it seems kind of contradictory to me, and you should push for that screen since it would appear she can tolerate the cables/wires.

Where did you purchase the wall mount for the HD20?

Thanks for the feedback guys. My wife hates the cable hanging down from the projector but tolerates it. I'll keep pushing the screen but she hates the idea of this contraption hanging on the top of the wall. The wall is 11ft wide so I get a nice big picture from the 13 ft throw distance of the projector. As for the mount to hang the projector; I got it off EBAY some years ago when I had my old projector and just drilled some new holes in the plate to make the Optoma fit.

Thanks for the info about the mount, looks like I need to keep searching.

Would she be more tolerant of a fixed screen? You could even mount some curtains on the side and have them closed when the projector wasn't in use. Worth a shot.

I am more then Glad to Say, It Looks Outstanding.
Like how you made it look like an Accent Wall.

It Blends in Wonderfully. While also allowing a Very Nice Image from your Optoma Projector.
Congratulations Indeed.

Thanks for the feedback friends.....but the wife will never go for the fixed screen, I think she will cave on the pull down screen before that.

You could hide the case hanging from the ceiling with a wooden valance or something that matches the moulding in the house. It might blend in real nice. You could even add some LED's inside or behind the valance when the screen is not in use to help with the ambience of the room when just watching TV.

This is your best bet I'd say. Make it add to the decor of the room, perhaps even make the valance deep enough so that your wife can use it as a shelf of sorts (if she wants).

Looks good!

I am curious how 1.85:1 images look. It looks like you loose a bunch of size because of the TV placement.

Yes the tv does hinder the 1:85 a little so I have to reduce the image slightly when watching that ratio. That's my next plan to get rid of the tube tv for something flat that I can lift down out the way.

I'm happy with the Sony receiver although the menu options can get a little confusing sometimes.

Yes it does the job well, I wish it had on-screen menu though. And upscaling over HDMI would have been a welcome addition.

I think I have the exact same tree that you do, in my living room. It's pretty nice. People ask me if its hard to maintain all of the time. I then tell them it's fake, and they're surprised. They look quite real.

Yeah I love that tree, more so because it was free!! My boss in work was going to throw it out! So I asked him if I could have it. I'd like to get a couple of smaller plants to maybe go by the front left and right speakers.
