My PS3 is used for (in order of importance):
*Blu-rays/DVDs *Games *Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) / HVGN via Screwattack.com or Retrowaretv.com *Streaming Music / Video *Photos Upon one year ago when I first got the PS3, it would typically play the flash content of all the nerd's videos perfectly. Recently, it started freezing more often at screwattack.com, and even more recently, it now gives "memory errors" while watching the Nerd's videos (typically about 3 minutes in). The browser has now reached an utter-useless point for me. Sure, it wasn't that great before, but if you knew what you wanted to watch, it was really a treat to be able to watch it on your big screen and such. This is how I always want to watch AVGN too, and not at my computer. So now, I have to download the video on my computer, transport it to a flash drive, and then plug it into the PS3, or have my computer stream it to the PS3. Please Sony: either A) Make your browsing capabilities open source. or B) Get the hell on top of things. This is getting ridiculous. Additionally, there should be no reason why the browser should perform any slower than a computer browser anyways. I think the CELL processor is more than capable of producing web pages and flash video. Last edited by FendersRule; 01-11-2010 at 01:34 AM. |

I've found that turning off javascript prevents the browser from freezing constantly, but that also prevents almost all streaming video from working.
Anyway, Sony's pretty chummy with Google lately, maybe they can get a custom version of Chrome. iirc, Chrome's a bit of a memory hog, which could be a problem if you want to have more than one tab open, but at least it has an extremely fast javascript engine, and some websites test on it. But I agree, the browser's quality has gone downhill fast. |

Ugh, I wish I could download a mainstream browser for it. Anyone would work flawlessly. |

![]() The source that originated that rumor just popped up again with some really funny stuff, so now I'm off to discredit another website + "source". ![]() |
