Default T2: Judgement Day - Skynet v/s Regular

A pawn shop in my area has the original T2 on Blu-ray. I want to purchase this unless the Skynet Edition has better PQ.

Is there a difference between these two movies beside the special features? I just want to know about the PQ.

From this site's review:
"That's a matter of subjective opinion, though there is no doubt that this edition has seen more in the way of noise reduction but also enjoys a bit more in the way of clarity, sharpness, and fine detail."

Here are some comparisons:

Personally I'm waiting for a proper release of this movie.

From what I understand, the original is sharper, but Skynet's color is a lot better (more natural, less banding).

I only own the original and I didn't find it to be the most amazing release ever. IIRC it's one of the first blurays, isn't it?

I second the notion of waiting for a "proper" release.

Pass on both.

Get the UK release, or if you really want the definitive T2 release, the Japanese version.

Make sure to get the first UK release, because I think the Skynet version was also issued over there.

The skynet edition looks great. The japanese version suposedly look better but cost too much.

If you don't own either I suggest waiting to next year for the inevitable 20th anniversary edition.

i play my blus on the sony bdp-s360 and the skynet edition takes 8-10min to load the menu. you can't even leave it to load cos there are inbetween screens you need to press cancel or ok

this really kills the joy of popping a disc into a player to watch. the extras are insignificant in comparison to the DVD versions

I'm gonna ask the obvious, is your firmware up-to-date?

I only have the T2 Sknet version. It's doesn't really look that great. Really DULL in my opinion.

It's kind of sad they didn't give this one a proper remaster. I hope when the Alien Anthology comes out later this year it'll deliever.

I didn't even find T-3 to look much better either. Slightly at most. I hate to say it but in terms of PQ Salvation blows everything else miles away.

that's ridiculous.

+1... but isn't the S360 a relatively new model of player?

Default My take

When I owned the Skynet Edition on my BDP-S360 (with the most recent firmware) it took 2-3 minutes to load to the main menu. It was really quite annoying. Between the menus, the fact many of the extras were only on BDLive, and the merely passable image quality, I decided to ditch my copy and get the Japanese "Premium Edition". Cost a pretty penny, but it's much quicker to load, the extras are on disc, and the image is better.

The UK release also looks better than the Skynet, and is only $8.66 + shipping. Also, if you want it, you can also order the proper release of T3 for just a few dollars more.

Re: T2

Out of the US and UK editions, which is the best to get? The first UK release?

Also, which Japanese release is the top, there are a couple? Been thinking of getting Rob Roy from Amazon.co.jp, may get T2 as well.

Rob Roy...what an odd film. Always thought the feminine look of Tim Roth was the Renaissance equivalent of a glam metal rocker.

The two links I posted above are the best versions of each.

The Japanese is best, followed by the UK.
