Default new to me sharp PG-c45x and questions

Just got a free projector. It has component in via vga. In theory can I use the component out on my sont strdg 810 with a component to vga cable from monoprice? I believe the pj can support 1080i and 720p. Will that work? Also can I use component out when my source is from hdmi? Not sure if this is a problem or not. Thanks.

It should work since they are both analog. Make sure the VGA port is the YPbPr compatable, and not RGB. You will have to buy a RGB to YPbPR converter, or a VGA RGB to YPbPr (Component) converter. You can also purchase a VGA cable if your player can use VGA, or if you own a PS3, buy a VGA adapter for it. However the VGA to component cable could work by itseif if the cable converts the RGB signal to YPbPr for component.

Ok so I found the manual and it states it supports component and rgb via vga. So it looks like it'll work just fine. I ordered the cable. It arrives tomorrow. I will hook it up and post some pics once I get it working.

Can a receiver output video via hdmi and component at the same time? I have a Sony str dg810. The manual for the receiver doesn't say one way or the other. Thanks.

I have tested that out with an in store phillips player from Aarons. Yes you can, but I tested the video on component and HDMI, component is downgraded, while HDMI retained the high resolution signal. Disconnecting HDMI from the TV return the player to a high resolution for component. Just make sure you do not use the player with component and HDMI at the same time. If you wanted to output video with component and HDMI with audio, It should work fine. If your receiver sets a mode (such as DVD 1) which is marked for both component and HDMI, it should work.
