Default PS3 Internet Connection Help

I am having problems getting my girlfriends playstation online. She had her playstation connected to a netgear router with cablevision service at her old house and now she is in an area with comcast service and connecting to another netgear router and it will not connect. It finds the netgear but when it tests the connection it says the IP address has timed out. It's getting to the point where i dont even want to go to her house. I keep thinking of the playstation commercial where he says, "you have a playstation and its not online?!" If anyone can help me or give me insight as to why this is occurring. Is it the playstation, service provider, or the router? If anyone can help please call my cell at 908-208-4036.

It is probably the provider. Try doing a manual connection, and use the DNS servers from opendns.com... that helped me.

They changed the site, sorry. Google apparently has some good dns servers, but I haven't tested them personally.
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Before you use them, I just want to make sure, are you connecting to the correct SSID and using the correct network key?

definitely sounds like an encryption issue, wrong key, or not setting up a key. i dont think this is a dns problem. hes not getting an ip address to start with.

You're probably right. Although sometimes when the wrong key is entered, you still get an IP address... it's just usually 169 instead of 192.

Ive tested the Google DNS servers.....they are fast for me. Faster than the ones assigned by ATT servers.

I put them in earlier and they worked well. I would recommend trying them.
