How come we can't buy/trade with Amazon GC anymore?

I just noticed that in the trading forum that we're not allowed to accept or give Amazon Gift Cards for payments.

Why is that? Is it due to there not being any recourse if you get ripped off?

You can send someone a GC and they can send you nothing in return. There isn't much you can do about it.

Through Paypal you can file a dispute if you don't receive your items.

Not if they use Paypal gift which is in point the same thing What if we setup a rule that both parties must have a certain feedback rating. I know ppl could always try raising their feedback but I for one really miss the AGC option.

i mean, wouldn't that guarantee they are sending your item???

Yeah, but how about they don't send you squat? Then you are screwed. I personally didn't have any issues at all with using AGC, but I did have a close call that ended up working out in the end.

true...doesn't really matter to me either way, i don't do a lot of selling on here anyway.

but i've done both paypal and amz gc's and haven't had any issues on here ever.

I have personally disputed a Paypal Gift Transaction...twice, so yes Its possible

It might have to do with the forum's affiliate links to Amazon. Legally, I believe Amazon frowns on their gift certificates being used as legal tender basically. I wonder if Amazon's lawyers sent a notice or something.

You may have a point, but if it's for the reason that you have no recourse in case you get ripped off, wouldn't it make sense if the site were to discontinue allowing the use of the Paypal gift option as well?

Why would Amazon have a problem with it? People will sell their goods one way or another, at least with AGC Amazon profits from it.

I for one would prefer AGC, but since the rules state otherwise I, like many others, have switched to Paypal gift.

Only a matter of time before Paypal takes that option away altogether.

Yeah I kinda figured it might have something to do with it being easy to get ripped off.

I don't really use paypal anymore since they won't let me add my bank account for some reason.

I always accepted AGC because I have a Prime account and order everything via amazon.
