Default What's my TV worth? (Poll)

Hello All,

I am thinking about selling my TV. It is a 40" XBR1. The actual model number is shown in my signature. It is in perfect condition (no scratches, no dead pixels). I bought a second set of original manuals and cables in addition to the originals in case I ever lost anything. I purchased the TV originally in January 2006 so it is about 1.5 years.

I am not sure about an asking price for the TV. I am in no rush to sell it, however I do want to purchase the 52" XBR4 before the end of the year. If I sell it quickly my plan was to buy a 47" 1080P Vizio from Costco and return it within the 3 month return period.

I'd prolly be comfortable paying 650 - 700 for it - in the condition you describe. Especially, if you're throwing in the cables with the sale.

Rup.

To be honest I would say the set is worth around $500. The main reason for this is the XBR1 is not 1080P which is the norm for LCD's today. I have a 40" XBR2 and I plan to upgrade to a 52 XBR4 early next year. Rather than sell my 40" LCD I will find space for it in another room.

In general (unless you are selling Wii's) consumer electronics lose most of their value within the first year (well maybe even the first 6 months). That's how fast things change.

Is someone attempting to pick up a steal?? My aunt just sold a 4-5 year old Sony 60" 1080i for $500. No HDMI, and her kid beat the crap out of the thing. It had two pennies jammed in the memory stick slot. She had NO problem unloading that thing for $500.
Start high, throw it up on ebay or craigslist. If your in no hurry then starting high and fishing for offers should not be a problem. One person's trash...

I voted $900. Its a great TV, just not 1080p.

Plus going below the scary "$1,000 marker" opens up opportunity for a sale.

Definitely agree with Blu J, start high and get a feel for what people are willing to pay. Good luck.

I am really surprised at the range of answers to this!

I have thought about keeping the TV for my bedroom, but this will delay me in purchasing the TV I really wanted, XBR4!
