Default The New Lost (Flashforward)

Hey,

Interesting:

Quote:
For those of you who aren’t paying attention to the barrage or recent advertising and promotion, ABC will begin airing a new television series called FlashForward on September 24th at 8pm. Based on the 1999 novel by Robert J. Sawyer, the story involves a global event which causes everyone to simultaneously experience, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future. Everyone who survived is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen. Many people are already calling it the new Lost. That said, there is the concern that the creators might not know how to deliver on this initial concept.

What do you think about this?

Quote:
Well, not only does David S Goyer claim to have a plan for the entire series, something he says is a must when presenting a pilot pitch in this post-Lost era, but he also knows when the endpoint should happen. The plan is to have the story told over the course of five seasons. It could, however, be shortened down to three, or “accordioned” out to last even longer. Five years is a good length for any series, any more is usually overkill. Especially with a non-sitcom television show, with a story that is less episodic and more serial/concept based.

If you haven’t seen the initial trailer that was released in early August, check that out below. ABC has also released a new two and half minute sneak preview from the pilot, a scene where the team compares what they saw and plan their course of action.

Plus DAVID S. GOYER IS INVOLVED IN THIS.

To see the ADS there are two:

Version 1.

Version 2.

Enjoy.

I'm interested. When Lost ends, I will need to latch on to something else. And Goyer is involved, which gives me hope.

This show will have beginning and end. There is a synopsis for the entire plot of the novel on wiki and there is a definite ending to it.

I'm interested, but it'll be a DVR treat for me. Thursday already has football, the Office, and 30 Rock.

The show starts up again soon, will they do a recap show or just repeat the last episode? They should be approaching the time frame they flashed to soon after they restart the series so I am guessing that will end the whole series which is unfortunate IMO.

Given the falling ratings Flashforward had before its hiatus, I suspect it will only last this one season. The show lost me as a viewer around the sixth or seventh episode. Great premise but sloppy execution in the actual story.

I actually think the TV series is far better than the book which has a really dumb ending IMO. The show was just a flash in the pan.

Not too, to; as in 'to' the Flashforward date is close to when the season restarts so the storyline has a logical ending point.

I think the Mod's missed it since it was such an old thread, hopefully they will move it to the television section.

Nothing will ever come remotely close to Lost. Lost is like a pizza with the lot while this is just the base with some sauce. Even the pilot of this show was so boring to an average episode of Lost.

This thread was started in September, long before the forum reorganization, before there was a "Movies" forum, and apparently was not moved by a mod since it was so old.

I suspect this will be a recurring problem as old threads are resurrected.

When the show starts up again in a couple of weeks will it be a new episode or a recap show? I thought I saw something about a recap show being aired but I didn't see the date.

With all the whining in the Lost thread about how the show is progressing, not progressing, answering but leaving unanswered, blah, blah, this show might have a chance. I just hope they bring it to a conclusion as promised.
