Default AT&T U-Verse

hey guys,

I was thinking of switching from my cable company(Charter)to U Verse for internet and cable tv. they seem to have many hd channels.

does anyone have this service?

if so, how does it compare to regular cable or dish?

how does the info enter the home; via cable or tel line or what?

thanks for your help

I have Charter too and I want to switch to Fios once it's available.

My coworker has Uverse but mainly because she has AT&T for her cell phone too so it's a cheap complete bundle deal.

I've been wondering this for a while. My mom has Comcast and hates the customer service and service in general.

I switched from Comcast to Uverse. I hate Comcast. Most cable, satellite and even over the air HD broadcasts have compression problems. Blu-ray is the best way to get REAL uncompressed HD programming.

What pisses me off is that my wife's parents who live like 5 minutes from us can get Fios but we can't in our apartment. Their internet speeds are ridiculously fast. I've seen his connection go up to 3 megabytes/sec

I have another half month or so on my freebies and after that, I'm switching to Dish. A friend finally got Dish(only person I know that has it) and it really impressed me. U-Verse just never impressed me. Their PQ was nowhere near Comcast's. I will give them credit for their customer service, they were very good whenever I had to deal with them.

When I was in KC I switched from Comcast to Uverse simply because Comcast pissed me off to no end and I saved probably $30/month or so.

The HD signals at the time (like 2-years ago) were very compressed and didn't look good compared to Comcast. Most TV shows looked fine, but man did football games look horrible. I liked the potential of Uverse, but it doesn't sound like they've resolved a lot of their issues. The whole-house dvr thing sounded awesome, but they didn't have it up and running before we moved.

That said, if I moved back to KC I'd probably go back to Uverse, but that's driven entirely by my hatred of Comcast.

Edit - Agreed with the poster above, their customer service was fantastic.

I wonder why U-Verse is so bad. You'd think a media giant like AT&T would have that nailed down. I like what they advertise with the whole one-DVR-sharing-to-other-boxes-in-the-house thing, and have been really wanting something like that for a while now. I won't get it if the PQ/AQ don't compare, though.

What pissed me off the most recently was Charter decided to dramatically alter all the channels. So all the channels I had memorized WERE NO LONGER THE SAME.

until some other provider can offer the nfl sunday ticket package, i will never switch.

plus directv has every hd channel that is available now.
only thing i hate is for ppv you pay an extra $10 for hd quality.....i dont know if comcast does this too

I also need to mention that at the time I set my U-Verse up 5.1 through HDMI didn't work. Although that may be fixed by now.

Cox cable did this as well. It's annoying.

YES!!! Whatever shortcomings Uverse has, it is better than Comcast. I can record up to 4 programs at the same time. I can watch them from any box and delete them from any box.

In regards to HD PQ, Comcast wasn't better. At least not here in Indy.

i think it really depends on your area... Comcast HD looks just as good as Dish's HD did... and i heard Comcast has worse compression...

I'm in Northern California and Comcast works great up here... Cant believe how fast the high speed internet is...

Only flaw i can think of as of right now is you can only record and watch on one box...
