Default Pre-Release Game Preparations

I for one don't watch trailers, dont play demos, dont look at screenshots (i mean if im browsing a thread here and scroll by a screenshot sure ill look at it but i wont go out on my own and view them.

I do NO preparations at all and in some ways it hurts me (Haze biggest let down of all time) and sometimes it doesnt (Uncharted 2 i was suprised at every turn by scenery and everything)

Im just wondering what people here do to psych themselves up for a game they wanna play or cant wait til it releases...

I sacrifice small, cute, fuzzy animals and eat them after roasting over an open fire... I generally will eat the liver fresh, however, since its nutrients are best absorbed from uncooked flesh. I get 3-4 red candles and a couple vanilla ones to disperse the smells of flatulence and order a pizza if I'm not full from the small animal feast. Mt. Dew is generally on hand, but for the most part I ensure I have a couple ice cold beers readily available to quench my anxiety. I keep a towel handy to wipe the sweat from my brow.

I sharpen my pocket knife so when the packaging arrives there is little delay in releasing the gem from its unforgiving packaging. Then, just before the game arrives, I sing a buddhist hymm while choking a chicken covered in green paint.

There's no point to the paint, but it looks amazing especially while choking it. Then I let out a beastly howl as I go to work getting the game from its packaging clutches and into the PS3 as quickly as possible.

Man... it's intense.

If it's a game I'm REALLY anticipating, I'll go on a self-imposed media blackout. Especially if the storytelling will be paramount to the experience. Bioshock 2 and Heavy Rain have fallen into this category for 2010.

I also condone playing through the original(s) prior to the sequel's release, unless it's a lengthy endeavour. Then I might just play a little bit to get comfortable with the controls again, without running the risk of burning myself out on it.

I usually go back and play the original if at all possible. I completed Bioshock a few weeks ago and I am currently working on God of War 2.
