Default hdmi to dvi help

Did some mild searching but no answers so i need to ask. I got an ol' Trinitron that has dvi on it. But alas my receiver (vsx-03) does not want to be friends with it. The manual says it supports hdcp on the dvi but nothing else. Right now im running component from the player to the tv, and the audio via hdmi to the reciever. I used a dvi-hdmi adapter that didn't work. the hdmi light on the receiver just blinked randomly.

Hopefully I can get this worked out I would love to use the dvi port instead.

Thanks in advance,
Curse

It's better to use a dedicated HDMI to DVI cable - the adapter you have may be messed up.

Monoprice has them, as well as Fry's. Best Buy charges way too much, but they have them if you're in a hurry.

use an HDMI-DVI cable...adapters can be problems.

Also, you should make sure no hdmi audio is trying to be passed out of the receiver.

something to the effect:

HDMI Audio = Amplifier

It maybe your TV does not like the DVI output and can't sync it.

I have used an adapter without issues.
