Anybody excited about finally seeing this on a BD? Netflix just sent me a confirmation e-mail that 8 1/2 will be at my apartment tomorrow. I'm pretty hyped!

sorry in advance mods if this is inappropriate for its own thread, maybe I should have just posted in the criterion thread?

Love to see any vintage Criterion on Blu--

Rented the old version in preparation of "Nine", and...okay, so Mastroianni is completely devoid of sympathy, Fellini keeps putting the exact same chauvinist-Italian misogynist female fantasies in every one of his movies, and the arrogant "poor, persecuted director" snottiness of Woody Allen's "Stardust Memories" hadn't completely been Woody's fault like we'd thought it was (he was just copying!), but still one more Criterion classic nevertheless!

This will be a blind buy for me, I'm waiting for b&n to ship this along with moon and the hurt locker.

I'm not a fan of Fellini, so while this particular title doesn't excite me, I am pumped that classic and foreign movies are being released on Blu-ray.

That is pretty exciting, it is a favorite. I really haven't bought many blu-rays but I might actually purchase this one as I'll probably watch it a few times.

Hopefully a lot more movies like this will start coming out on BD.
I've had to stop watching some art-films recently because the PQ was just too poor. I'm thinking I might have to invest in a TV set (I have projector) to watch older DVDs if they don't start coming out with more/better BDs soon

With Criterion, I seriously recommend renting either first, but 8 1/2 is "better" for you.

I was so tempted to pick this up at Frys today but I could not justify spending $30 on it when I know I can get it cheaper in the coming months.

Renoir, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Antonioni and Kurosawa are often referred to as some of the greatest directors ever, but, in my humble opinion, Fellini is the greatest of them all!

Does anyone know why Amazon has this item on review, and won't sell it. I have been wanting to buy it all week and I can't find anyone else who has an issue with this. Just says "ITEM UNDER REVIEW"
