Ok I was just curious to see what is more popular or better to most people. These two are sci-fi juggernauts and may be the biggest sci-fi franchises period. I havent seen the Alien movies so I cant vote but I hear great things about it. I love the Terminator franchise and hope that the Alien series is just as good. So out of these 2 juggernauts which is the sci-fi series u choose? Also technically the Alien franchise has 6 movies but from what I hear most people dont count the 2 AVP films so I didnt as it doesnt focus on just the Alien films. So dont base those 2 films on your voting. Just the first 4 films of each series. Got Em!!

I like all the Terminator movies, yes all of them and they do well despite being dated in the special effects. Alien and Aliens on the other had were the ONLY good movies in the series, 3 and 4 sucked. Plus the first two just look very dated, when I was a kid they scared the snot out of me, kinda like Jaws did, but now I cannot look at them without laughing at the poor quality, I still like them, the way I still like jaws but of the 2 series I have to give the nod to Terminator.

I’m declining not to vote. Why? Well the Alien box-set is one hell of mess! Expect for Aliens theatrical release wow the six-track Dolby stereo experience!
Aliens the special edition ![]() Alien3 wow the six-track Dolby stereo experience! Alien Resurrection well not quite the wow the six-track Dolby stereo experience! I’m talking about the theatrical versions. Alien ![]() They have folded the centre phantom that is left and right fronts onto the discrete centre channel original six-track Dolby stereo mix and crated one hell of mess! I spotted this in seconds and it was very hard to hear the soft whispery sounds in the centre because it’s now been masked by some heavier dynamic sounds of left and right centre phantom that can not be undone! I have found ways to improve the original first edition DVD Alien with some level adjustment of dynamic EQ to hear those tiny little winy sounds, where’s with the stinker director’s cut impossible! Also the blacks or brightness has been reduced! Wow what an epic fail! I also have Aliens director’s I'm the king of the world special edition on DVD that I’ve had for years, until they realised the box set with true hidden (Easter Alien Egg) Aliens theatrical release, gold dust, priceless, indispensable! ![]() If the Bluray should ever come about on region B, I guarantee it will be same recycled version with lame bluray menus that just doesn’t do it for me. I promise you this, because this is how sly, the bluray market is now. If you, all want to be so gullibly then fine. They should produce both versions of the first edition on Bluray and the rubbish two versions for that rubbish box-set! Also there’s the audio commentary original Ridley Scott where he makes a few references to Dolby on the first edition! This should be merged or part of the new audio commentary sessions and newer new audio commentary for the bluray release. I bet they can’t deliver. Last edited by JBL4645; 01-21-2010 at 04:06 PM. |

If this poll was about the first two of those series it would have been a slam dunk for the Terminator series, but since the campy POS that is Terminator 3 is part of the poll, I have no other choice but to vote for the Alien series.
And it doesn't hurt that I quite enjoyed the third Alien movie. Much more so than Aliens, which had too much action and not enough horror in my opinion. To borrow P@t's chart: Alien Quadrilogy (15 points) Alien = classic (5 points) Aliens = a bit weak (3 points) Alien 3 = quite good (4 points) Alien Res = a bit weak (3 points) Terminator Quadrilogy (12 points) Terminator = classic (5 points) Terminator 2 = classic (5 points) Terminator 3 = godawful (-1 point) Terminator 4 = a bit weak (3 points) KM |

how about a neither on the poll as far as quadrilogy goes....
Becase some of us think Alien 1 and 2 are all that exist and Termintator 1 & 2 the same. As for me Alien (Masterpiece) and Terminator (really good) are by far the best of the series. Aliens and Terminator 2 are good popcorn fun but not great films by any means. Last edited by Elvis; 01-21-2010 at 04:17 PM. |

Not a great poll, simply because both quadrilogies have two excellent films and two mediocre/poor films. So, I think a better poll would be first two Alien films vs first two Terminator films.
I voted for Alien because each of the first two films are much better than each of the two Terminator films, as good as those films are. Unfortunately, I think the Alien quad has a bigger drop off with the terribleness of the latter two films, while the third Terminator film is very mediocre and haven't seen the fourth. |

Well, like Elvis, I don't consider the latter two films of either quad to be a part of the series--I just ignore them. The third Alien film completely negates the second, which is inexcusable. The fourth is an absolute joke, imo. The third Terminator film doesn't negate the plot of the two prior films, but just isn't a good film and is unnecessary. Two fantastic doubles though. If only it was left that way. |
