Default Kitase on FF7 remake - "Maybe, perhaps we'll have some news for you at a later time."

Source

Quote:
Speaking at gamescom last week, Kitase said: "As for a VII remake, all I can advise right now is to play the PSN release that just came out for the time being. Maybe, perhaps we'll have some news for you at a later time."
After the announcement of the GOW games being remastered for the PS3 after popular demand, could the past FF series join it? Not just limited to FF7 of course but the entire collection.

Personally i'd love to see it as i never caught anything other than FF8 and 10 and i dont remember finishing 8! I know its been dangled in front of PS3 owners since the tech demo years ago but its still not been put to bed.

I'd like to see them completely redo the graphics on a PS3 level rather than just remastering it.

I wonder if they'll remake it in the same vein of RE for the Gamecube. Same gameplay, updated graphics. RE for the GC played the same, with 3d characters in 2d backgrounds, which is how FF7 works.

So they just have to redo the textures to brand new HD ones, make the 3d models like advent children, and bam, awesome sauce.

They are definately going to milk the cash cow that is FFVII for all its worth before investing more money into a remake.

I'd buy it but I don't know if S-E would see the value in running such low-fi PlayStation graphics in HD now.

They'd be more likely to do a FFT style makeover on PSP. Even that wasn't great, you can tell a lot of the art is stretched horizontally.

well the question is how has GOW been done? fi they used the GOW3 graphics engine then why could square not use the White Engine? then it would be PS3 graphics.

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on PS3 is the sort of upgrade you should expect from the GoW Collection.

I haven't been too impressed with Square Enix in recent years. FF XIII in my eyes is Square's last chance to impress me before I ditch the company in my mind. Remaking FF VII would be a smart move for them to try and get sympathy and money from nostalgic older fans like me. With that said, it'd better not come out on PSP. That game deserves a full HD treatment on the PS3.

True, but they did have Dragon's Quest 8 (although that was really Level 5 which is the new Squaresoft in my mind). That, and I love the FFD demo for PSP. I'm hoping for a next-gen sequel.

I can't hate on Square though, because they did make several of the greatest games of all time:

Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy Tactics

I personally hope they wait till PS4 or a next gen console is out so a FF7 remake is done justice

I'd prefer the best possible game it can be & that to me means waiting till the next gen is out with true 1080p 60fps graphics that just do the story justice enough & mean it will stand the test of time

Which is exactly what he is doing with this kind of quote.... he's getting people excited for the possibility of a remake, and then when they are reduced to waiting (for the possibility) they purchase the PS1 original. I doubt we ever see the remake that it deserves, if any remake at all.

The only time an FFVII remake will ever see the light of day is when the tie-ins and spin-offs stop making making money. Why give the people what they want when they can bleed them dry with an endless supply of teases?

Yeah, those were the days. Xenogears is still my favorite RPG of all time. Followed very closely by FF3 for SNES (FF VI). VII is in 3rd place. Secret of Mana is what made me fall in love with Squaresoft (I miss that name). Honorable mention to FFT & Chrono Trigger, haha. Oh man, brings me back....so many summer days spent inside with the SNES & PSX.

I swear, once Squaresoft almost went bankrupt with that Final Fantasy movie, they just stopped being creative. Rehashes left and right from their glory days, and average entries into the Final Fantasy series. I'm still trying to find my copy of Einhander & Ehrgeiz.....proof they used to venture out of their safety zone.

Sorry, I "digest"....haha.

Watch them put it on 360, where it won't sell, and then blame the consumer for not wanting it.

Squaresoft did. Can you name a Square-Enix project that you'd rank amongst the greatest games of all time?

Is anyone able to translate this picture? This could be confirmation of a FF7 remake with the obvious picture of Cloud and PS3 at the top:

²Ò‚Ò‚½

Maybe something for E3???

It's just the cover of the latest Famitsu, the usual sources already scanned and translated most of it last night. If there was any news, the Internet would be broken by now.

Edit: Apparently Famitsu had some sort of character ranking thing. Means nothing. Although Nomura's been hinting at stuff lately...

I've seen it too: he said something about a 'highly requested' game being in dev.
