Default Wrong colors Blu-ray movie on PC

Hi all,
this is my first post here. I've always try to solve my problem by myself but this time I can not.

I get Sony VAIO laptop with Blue Ray and HDMI. After reinstalling new Vista (not recovery), I cannot watch B-R movies. I've installed many codecs pacs (K-Lite, Vista CP etc.) and always collors while watching are like in CGA/EGA graphic card. Also ATI drivers are updated. I use Power DVD 9 Ultra (registerred) to watch movies.

The same situation was before reinstalling Vista while using factory WinDVD. I thought that was a software problem then. New install of PowerDVD was working perfectly.

Whats's the problem?

Sounds like a video driver problem, uninstall the ATI driver reboot then install it again. using the add and remove option in the control panel.
You may want too do the same with PowerDVD as well after you reinstall the ATI drivers.

It's probably because you're using "blue ray" which I can only assume is some cheap taiwanese knockoff. Upgrade to blu-ray and try it again.

This has nothing to do with any codecs/codec-packs, PowerDVD includes everything you need.

First - do you use the correct color depth (24 bit or 32 bit)?

Second - check the video-settings in PowerDVD (in version 7: configuration/video/color profile).

Thank for your reply's.
I spend many days on installing and installing everything in various order and I think this is ATI driver fault. Don't know why, because this was original SONY drivers from sony vaio update website. I also tried drivers from ATI site. Uninstalling drivers didn't solve the problem. Probably some files were left. Even Vista build system restore function didn't help.

Now WinDVD works good - after UPGRADING with 2 "Sony WinDVD" patches.
PowerDVD also, unless I install not-recovery ATI driver.
Do you think it's intentional action/activity from Sony leading no to use other software than provided with laptop?

Didn't change anything after default installation. Once it works, after installing new drivers doesn't. System colour depth was always the same - 32 bit. Maybe changing default colour profile will work, but now I do not want to break this installation. It costed so much time to install and personalise everything. Even backing-up and restoring those 40-GB-system is not quick.

Thanks for help, once again guys...

Default dark screen

Im having similar issues i think. I have a Sony Vaio model vgn-fw450j. I bought the thing for the blu ray player. I never open the screen anymore because i have display hooked up through hdmi cable to my toshiba flat screen. If i watch dvd's through windows media player it works fine. When I use windvd to watch blu-ray i get a really dark play back picture. Sometimes i can hardly see whats going on in the movie. I did the update thing for windvd through the sony site. Didnt help. When i right click on the windvd window and click on video there are settings that i cant adjust. Im ready to throw this thing through a wall. If anyone can help i would appreciate it.

there are known issues between powerdvd and ati cards. this was however solved i the last two patches of powerdvd just last dec.
the same could be happening in windv, which i dont use. try to find an applicable patch in the windvd website, as sometimes it takes a while for laptop websites to update their patch/driver info.
you could also try updating the ati drivers (if the windvd patch doesnt solve the issue) from the ati website for the same reason mentioned above.
hope that helps

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your video card.
