Default Whats your favorite underdog movie?

For me it is Sea Biscuit hands down...The most uplifting movie I have ever seen. As a kid it used to be 'cool runnings' I hope they come out with a blu ray of that...although I dont know if i will like it as much as i did when i was 15. School of Rock also deserves an honorable mentionk, would love the blu ray of that as well.

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy!

well either that or Showgirls, the passionate and beautiful tale of a girl who just wanted to make it big in the world of dance.

Great thread! I love stories where the down-and-out rise up and shine!

Cool Runnings is still great to watch. Definitely one of my favorite "underdog" movies. I sat down to it a couple weeks ago on DVD with my son (unfortunately, it's non-anamorphic) and I think it would great if Disney were to release it on BD.

Some great selections are listed so far by others on this thread, too. Rocky and Rudy are consummate underdog films!

Other personal favorites of mine are.

The Shawshank Redemption
The Pursuit of Happyness
Slumdog Millionaire
Better Off Dead
Gattaca
Reign Over Me
Happy Feet
The Truman Show
Miracle
The Fugitive
Powder

How could I forget Shawshank Redemption...one of my all time favorite movies. And Kung Fu panda was amazing as well...the scene where he finally passes his training left me breathless and speechless

A lot of fantastic selections and ones I would def list myself (such as Rocky, Hoosiers, Cinderella Man, Seabuscuit, Karate Kid, etc.) One I did not see listed that I would also list is Lucas, and 80s fav of mine with the lovely Kerri Green.
