Default If you could only buy one Blu-ray a month for the next 12 months what would they be?

Hi Folks,

Budget is 0 for new movies.. so i'm aiming to purchase just one movie per month this year if possible... .. i can skip months to save for my 12.. but i know its going to be difficult.. i havent bought one in January.. i'm talking about new discs released this year (catalogue + new release discs)

Some on the horizon

Dr Zhivago
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (might squeeze these in as one disc
Dumbo
Saving Private Ryan
Alien Quadrilogy (some massaging of the budget required here)
Armageddon
Iron Man 2
Toy Story 1/2
Toy Story 3

Cant think of any more off hand the first couple of months are always slow so i know come the run in to christmas i'll be very tempted.. its always the most expensive time of the year for buying films!

Is there a simple release calendar for each month already out there? Obviously movies will be added to it. This could be fun to try, I hoped to select one movie to be released from the months.

Am I over thinking this?

just one per month!!
wow, thats like going cold turkey
if i were you i would spend more time thinking about how to make
extra income, rather than downsizing to the level of a ten year old
on an allowance budget!

I would probably go with the following:
Zombieland
Sherlock Holmes
LOTR Trilogy
Back to the Future Trilogy
Alien Quadrilogy
Jurassic Park
Toy Story 1 & 2
Avatar
Saving Private Ryan

There are many more so luckily my budget isn't limited to 1 per month.

Out of the ones on your list, I would have a hard choice between:
Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Saving Private Ryan but lean toward LotR.

It might not be so bad. Prices on BD's have fallen dramatically during the past year, with many titles on sale below $10. I would keep my eye on the bargains posted at this site, and choose from there.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you don't mind waiting a bit to buy, you can get some really good sales. Look at the big titles from November/December that can now easily be found for $16.99 or less.

Hard to say as my choices will change depending on what is released, but some titles I would buy are:
1) Gone With The Wind(single disc)
2) Jurassic Park
3) Sound Of Music
4) The African Queen
5) The Maltese Falcon
6) Mutiny On The Bounty

Is Beauty and the Beast out this year? Darn.. i cant avoid that..

and i'd love to get the Sound of Music and the African Queen also.. i hate trading discs so i end up keeping them..

I guess Avatar will be on the list somewhere and your right i'll try and hold off a few months and see if i can get titles reduced etc or second hand on the forums..

its more of a case that i have i'm starting with a negative budget so have to limit spending somewhere.. and i'd say we havent heard half of the titles that are due this year yet.. i just have to keep walking by the shops and online stores!
