Default Help! Sony BDP-S360, no pic using HDMI to Vizio 551

A friend of mine contacted me this morning and said his new Sony BDP-S360 will not display a picture.....I think he said "snowy".....via HDMI to his Vizio 551 LED TV.

I looked over the manual on-line and mentioned simple things like selecting the correct input........he has ordered another HDMI cable from Amazon thinking it might be the cable........any suggestions?

It sounds like he's selecting the wrong input on the Vizio - and that he's still looking at the RF input, not the HDMI.

I don't think so.....he said that he connected the player up with the cables that came with the player.....composite and can view a picture.......just not through HDMI.........

Hmmm....still sounds like a mode selection problem on the TV...bad HDMI cables are pretty rare.

Default similar problem....

i just bought a Sony s360 blu ray player. upon getting it set up, the screen now blips with "snow". it only does this when i select the HDMI for video output. I tried a couple different HDMI cords, and it still happens...so i don't think it is a connection error. when I reset to factory settings (whis is the basic yellow video output) the blipping stops.

I am running it through my yamaha av receiver to a magnavox 42" plasma.

is there a likely incompatability somewhere? or a setting that needs to be changes? (although I think i've messed with almost ALL the settings trying to figure this out!)

thanks

Default BDP-S360 won't play through HDMI

I don't have any Blu-ray discs yet but when I play a standard DVD I get no output through the HDMI cable. If I hook it up through the standard component video I get a picture but very low quality. Is there a setting I am missing?

You have the output video format set to HDMI and the resolution set to a resolution your TV supports correct?

Ok....more info.......he now says that he can view a blu-ray via HDMI, but when he tries to go to the "setup" menu, the menu will come up mementarily and then go away.

Does the same thing on all HDMI inputs. He can't get back to the setup menu.

I have no idea what is causing this and he has not had time to call Sony yet.

I suggested that if he can return the player, to do so and see if an exchange may help.

Are you talking about the player setup or setup for a particular
BD movie? If you're talking about about the player setup does he see the home menu on player startup?
