Unhappy Speaker test...

How can I test or know if my speaker system are damage or one speaker is the problem causing the Receiver channels to damage?

What tool and how can I use it?

hmm. lets go thru the process of elimination.

whats the problem first hand?

one channel sound bad? all of em?

why does it sound bad? hissing? hum? crackled sound?

disconnect all speakers except the troubled speaker. for example, the right speaker.

switch the right speaker used for that one, and use another one (lets say the left one), and see if the problem still arises.

if the problem disappears, then it might be the speaker itself (right speaker)

if it doesnt, lets try switching out the cable itself.

speaker still sound bad?

then we've eliminated the speaker, the cable, now the AVR comes to play...

check the back of the AVR, and see what might be causing this... unless we know what the 'sound' is, then we cant really address it. but we at least eliminated what may cause it at this point.

Hi jomari, thank's for your comments. The situation is that I'm own an Onkyo 705 AVR from may 08' and from that date I bring it to the Service Station (under warranty yet, 2 years) three times. Yes, you read ok, three times!
I speak with the tecnician and he thinks that maybe a speaker or a speaker wire maybe damaged, causing the Receiver problems.

Titogap, jomari is dead on in his advice in his first post. If you really believe a bad speaker or bad speaker wire is the problem then a few simple steps will identify which speaker or speaker wire is the culprit. Then it's just a simple matter of removing the faulty item from your system and replacing it.

Thank you, but the problem is, how can I identify which speaker is?
By now I will change the speaker wires, maybe I can wait a week to receive it, but I have no chance. My brother told me about to check the Ohm with a Multimeter. Maybe I can deal with the problem, next week I will tell you about my experience.
Thank's for your comments...
