Default Onkyo 805 and 120hz

Last Sunday I purchased an Insignia 46 inch tv from best buy (model number NS-L46Q120-10A). I have found the tv to be great quality for the price. Unfortunately when I turn on DCM or 120hz there is a .5 to 1 second delay, the audio is always coming before the picture. I have messed with the 805 settings but I can never get it perfect for all the channels, and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has a quick fix.

Some facts:
everything is connected to receiver via hdmi as well as receiver to tv
60 hz works fine

what is your source i.e. cable, blu-ray, dvd, etc.?

next if you connect your source directly to the tv bypassing the receiver does the same thing happen?

does your tv and source support 120hz?

you mention DCM, what is that (for those of us who do not know)?

you have listed the tv & receiver, please list all of your gear.

i'm sure lots of others will want/need to know these things so best if you can get it out there to save time from asking.

Sorry for the lack of clarity I was heated when I typed that.

Every source I have tried is delayed.
The sources I have tried are comcast cable hd and the ps3.

The TV supports 120hz which is called DCM in the setting. I believe onkyo 805 supports 120hz, as does the ps3.

Connections are as follows:

ps3 -> receiver via hdmi
cable box -> receiver via hdmi
receiver -> tv via hdmi

After more testing I have noticed that it mostly only lags with HD video, playing a dvd right now in ps3 at 120hz and it looks fine. As do some non hd channels. It seems wonky, some stuff lags while others does not.

Now, someone can jump right in here and correct me, but, you can't get 120hz or 240hz from your playback devices or from cable tv either. you can playback media that supports 24fps from certain dvd's and blu-ray movies. the 120 & 240hz features are those of your TV set, not your receiver or anything else.

there is an audio sync feature in the 805, somewhere. i think the default works fine for most. because you didn't mention it, should i gather you are playing your audio via your TV or are you using speakers?

if you are using your TV, did you do what i mentioned before, connecting directly to the TV from the source (eliminating the tv) and select the 120hz feature and see what you get?

that is a simple troubleshooting technique that you should have or should be trying and get back to us. this will help determine if the receivers doing something funky or is it an issue with the TV especially, if your getting your sound from the TV.

please try that and if possible, both sources connected directly to the tv and set it at 120hz and see what you get. i am in serious doubt that it is the onkyo (unless you have changed the default settings for the delay/sync audio feature) causing this issue. i think we would have heard about that by now. i wouldn't be surprised if there is an audio delay/sync feature in your television that might need adjusting! you'll have to check your manual for those settings, if they even exist. now you've got some homework to do!

get back to us after doing that. hope this helps! keep us posted!

your tv is alwys displaying in 120hz, what you're referring to is the motion interpolation feature on your tv. What this does is add frames so you see less judder and a smoother picture; The 120hz is not your problem. Ask over in the "receiver" part of the forum, they might be able to help.

Also, make sure the ps3's video is set to 24p, and the audio is set to linear PCM.

Yea I connected all my devices directly to the tv and the audio was synced perfectly, I assume it is something to do with the receiver. I will go ask in those forums. Thanks for the help.
