Default Warner BD-Live DIY commentaries

has anybody actulally bothered to try this 'record your own commentary' feature?

i have 2 titles that support it, and theres none available. I guess nobody either bothers, or sets it to friends only?

Shame, it seems like a nice idea.

What movies have this feature? Sounds intriguing but I have heard nothing about it.

Some Universal Blu-rays like Mamma Mia have this as well.

Just curious but why would you want to talk about or listen to someone rambling on for 1.5 to 3 hours about a movie they had nothing to do with the movie? Or are these just supposed to be like a quick couple minute reviews?

Maybe to riff on the movie. Makes me wish they had this option on the two live-action Street Fighter movies.

They could be full length or just partial commentaries.

And film historians do commentaries for movies they never worked on.

- Rudy Behlmer for Gone With The Wind
- David Skal provides a lot of information for the classic Universal Monster movies

Then there are the filmmakers who provide commentaries for films they didn't make either.

- Steven Soderbergh provides one for Catch-22
- Peter Bogdanovich and Laurent Bouzereau are together for the To Catch A Thief commentary

The nice thing about having "regular" people do it themselves, is that you can oftentimes end up with an hilarious commentary where mistakes are pointed out or the commentator(s) is/are on some type of mind enhancement.

wouldnt this feature be the same thing as having an annoying person near you in the movie theater, talking the whole movie telling his wife what he thought or what just happened? .

if you could limit it to people who knew a lot about film, took a professional swing at it, or people that were involved in the project but not big enough to get their own commentary on the release, that might be interesting. but how to filter from the riffraff.

It's...for fans who want to make their own geek-expert commentaries.
So you don't have to download MP3's off of fan websites and play them off your iPod, like so many Avatards are already no doubt planning to do.

Studios had this dream of harnessing the "great creative private-sector anarchy of the Internet" for BD-Live's content, and that fans would be moving their lovably unpredictable interactive discussions from Net movie boards to BD-Live forums, with chat-screenings, and all.
On the first Disney disks and some of the current Paramount Star Trek:TOS sets, there's a feature for fans to create their own on-screen Trivia games...And while nobody's created one yet, I've become hooked on not watching a Trek episode without one of the few studio-created ones already up.

(Oh, and the first Street Fighter movie already has a director commentary, smarty-apple--
No, he's not "apologizing for it", ba-dum-ching; in fact, DeSouza outs himself as one of the few directors who ever played an original videogame before adapting it.)

This whole time I thought the only thing DeSouza could brag about was making a better Street Fighter movie than the director of Doom did. This whole DIY Commentary thing gives me hope for the Circle of Iron, Clash of the Titans and the animated LOTR blu-ray. I might actually enjoy these if I have a comedy commentary track to fall back on when indulging in their b-movie greatness.

THere's a german fan commentary gone up on Harry Potter HBP, but I can't get it to work. It keeps sticking and freezing. I'm wondering if this is an internet speed issue, but the Daniel Radcliffe streaming commentary works fine, so I don't see why this one shouldn't. Anybody have any ideas?

I have a VirginMedia 8mb cable connection, which according to the speed test I ran on my PC, actually runs closer to 10mb, which is nice.

But I find problems with my PS3. I did the internet conenction test on it, and it came up as just under 3mb!!

Now the PC is hardwired, and the PS3 is Wireless, both are connected via a Belkin54g router. Surely the wireless can;t be responisble for robbing so much speed? I know it;s slower to some degree, but this is a bit much.

I was trying to watch a streaming BD Live commentary on Harry Potter HBP, but it just couldn't connect fast enough to get it coming thorugh. I got no sound, and endlessly freezing picture, with cuts to the loading screen.

Anybody have any ideas? Is the slow speed related to the PS3 somehow, or is it somehwere else? I am planning on having it hardwired in the near future.
