Default General Question About BD Durability

Are BD more susceptible to damage/dirty disc surface than regular DVDs or about the same? I have rented several titles from Blockbuster but have had problems during playback on a few of them. Any recommendations on what should be used to clean the disc surfaces? THANKS!

water and a soft cloth like a new t-shirt

DO NOT USE WINDEX, the ammonia will strip the anti-scratch coating

I use the same spray and cloth that I use on my iPod, lcd flat panel or iPhone (yeah, I said it!). I haven't noticed scratches on the rentals. I have seen what looks like an awful lot of drool residue which I find completely understandable. The feature they just enjoyed is, after all, "Better than Perfect".

I've Netflixed almost 100 BDs so far, the only one that had a playback issue actually had a visible crack (not scratch) on the plastic.

I do look at the playing surface before I put it in the PS3 and wipe it on my sofa-cover if I see any fingerprints or otherwise foreign material. Before or after wiping, I've never seen a scratch on the surface, the hard coating is incredible.

enjoy
