The Jungle episode in Planet Earth.
The picture fills up the whole screen and the picture quality on the fungi scene is just super amazing on my Sony SXRD A3000. Every frame looks like a photograph, wait better than photographs. Thats my demo right there. There's also other good scenes on the other discs too, Caves especially. Others that you could use are 1. Rataoulli (not sure on the spelling but awesome flawless PQ) 2.Apocalypto 3.Pirates of Caribbean AWE 4.300 |

I bought a 16x9 TV, and I would prefer to see the entire screen covered with the picture. TO HELL WITH WHAT THE DIRECTOR WANTS ME TO SEE! I think we should have that option on the disc, and let the purists have the black bars! |

Is that a real statement? Use the stupid zoom option then. Don't make us suffer because you want everything to be your way and set up for your TV.

Movies were filmed in certain aspect ratios with movie theater screens in mind, not your TV. If you want all movies to fill your screen buy fullscreen DVD's, stretch them to fit your 16x9 screen and leave Blu-ray to us who want to watch movies how they were intended to be watched.

only way to enjoy 2.33 or 2.40 ratio you would have to buy a 21:9
ratio tv in which Phillips is the only one making one right now not even sure if its on the market yet. if you use the zoom method on 16:9 tv you loose some of the picture on 2.40 ratio. full screen method would still give you bars on the side. I have a 16:9 tv and have a dark wall behind it and low light makes the issue easier to live with. |

Obviously, you're not quite the movie fan you think you are.

wow talk about thread resurrection
![]() @ the OP - don't you understand black bars! its the directors intent, educate!!! how dare you want to use a 16:9 movie. Eventhough that may be the directors intent... you must use a movie with black bars you must, only that ratio is ok, your not cool if you don't use black bars ![]() |

Don't ask studios to punish film lovers by choping up/downgrading encodes. Maybe you should go buy a one of those huge 90's rear projection 4x3 TVs and hunt down those 4x3 DVDs so you can get your "full screen" on ![]() |

Thank you! That's exactly what I was going to post. I want my movies in their original aspect ratio. If you want a 2.35:1 movie to fill your screen, use the zoom feature on your TV.
