Question Major typing errors in reviews? (*edit* or not..)

I keep noticing a copious amount of spelling/punctuation/grammatical errors in the reviews. For example, from the review of Ong Bak 2:

"He more like the ossin this evel, because if there one thing you could equate to Ong Bak 2, it a videogame, a third-person brawler that spawns endless amounts of enemies for our nearly mute hero to dispatch. In each stage, Jaa takes on a steady stream of personality-free baddies before encountering some colossal foeith some definable physical traitho not quite as easy to take down. Wash, rinse, repeat. The only thing saving the film from being a rote exercise in monotonous violence is Tony Jaa, who simply transfixing when he in motion. (His dramatic beats falter, as he still hasn learned to make more than one expression.) It unfounded hyperbole to call him the savior of martial arts movies, as some critics have claimede has yet to make a real classicut he the best in the business right now, at least in terms of sheer physical ability. The film most spectacular stunt has Jaa leaping across the backs of a herd of stampeding elephants. A fall would mean certain trampling, but there are no safety cables, no clever cutaways or image manipulations. What you see is what you get. And while the original Ong Bak was all about Muay Thai kickbocking, Jaa expands his martial arts repertoire here to include a variety of pan-Asian styles that I admittedly know nothing about but look pretty damn impressive. I don know how anyone can combine stop-on-a-dime movements with almost frictionless fluidity, but Jaa does it."

The occasional mistakes are understandable, but when there are a dozen in a paragraph I almost wonder if there isn't some sort of technical error going on. Apostrophes seem non-existent, for instance..?

Good afternoon Mendoza,

Unfortunately, this is indeed a coding bug (not on our end), which Firefox isn't able to overcome. With other words, if you type your review in Microsoft Word, and then copy it into the review system, Firefox does not read properly a number of characters.

Some examples:

1."..."
2.Don't
3. -
4. --
5. naïve but not naive.

A number of French and German spellings and names are also very problematic, as some of the characters are unreadable by Firefox.

I even changed the title for "Mesrine: L'ennemi public n.1" from "Mesrine - L'ennemi public n° 1" as is problematic.

Even Fellini's 8 ½ is problematic. I went back and forth a couple of times trying to figure out if I should have it as 8 ½ or 8 1/2 as Firefox could not read the former.

The best thing a reviewer could do to minimize some of these symbol errors is to manually correct them after the review is entered in the system. At least this is what I always do.

It looks like Casey is using non standard versions of ’ “ and ”. We could/should convert those automatically to the ASCII versions ' ".
