Absolutely stoked that this is getting a proper release, even though I wish it was 4K.

Aster confirmed he is working on an extended cut for home video and it's already had a few screenings in the US. I wonder if we'll get that here.

I wouldn’t hold your breathe, it seems like the US release is holding back for the director’s cut. And Entertainment in Video aren’t the best at offering definitive versions.

I wouldn't bother. Awful film. Total rip off of The Wicker Man.

It’s very different to The Wicker Man, similarities are superficial.

Yeah I hate it when Directors announce Directors or Extended cuts for home video and then studios decide to milk the cow and release it later or never.
There has been no official press release for the US disk so far so I am hoping they do release the Directors Cut. if not then I will wait for UK disc to be £8 or so and then wait and see if DC ever comes out.

However for a movie like this which is by no means a big movie like marvel then I really dont see studios releasing second release.

A work colleague watched it with her mum and said it was okay, but she had to look away from the screen at times, describing some of the horrific (to her and her mum) scenes. Neither of them like horror films, so I have no idea why they went to watch it. It sounds right up my alley and I'm looking forward to watching it.

But there is already a US release set up so its likely the theatrical first then later the extended cut.

Pays homage to The Wicker Man, more like, as it does to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Wizard Of Oz, albeit in a twisted way. Absolutely classic folk horror; I would recommend it for fans of the slow burn.

Oh, and I'll only get this when the Director's Cut comes out, because it'll have all the material that was cut to bring it from an NC-17 to an R.

Agree. One however is a mid-tier classic oddity of 70's B cinema while the other is the worst film I've paid money to see at the cinema since The Hobbit 2 and most disappointing since The Last Jedi.

I wanted to like it, I went in expecting to like it but thought it nonsense.

The director's cut doesn't add anything that would have made it NC-17.

No new gore is apparently added to the director's cut, so the one major thing I can think of is that in the script, and supposedly in the director's cut, Siv explicitly tells Christian that Maja is only 15 (or is it 16?) years old.

I could see that being a huge no-no.

It's possible just the stuff in the theatrical is what gave it an NC-17 initially, and it took some negotiating with the MPAA to get it down to an R rating.

Er, Christian's bloodied penis after he's had sex with Maya (because she's a virgin)? I can see that offending the right wing MPAA!

It’s just a placeholder, and EiV usually provide subtitles, so it’ll probably have subtitles.

Nothing yet. Hereditary didn’t have one (I had to import from the U.S.) so I wouldn’t hold your breath!
