So right now i got my Samsung LN40A550 and while its been a great TV i want something bigger. Im guessing i shouldnt bother with anything less then a 50" in that case. Price well, $1500 would be my absolute highest, but if i could find something closer to $1000 that would be nice.
A couple that caught my eye just due to size and price were Panasonic 54" Class Viera 1080p Plasma HDTV, TC-P54S1 $1377.99 Panasonic - VIERA / 50" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / Plasma HDTV TC-P50U1 $899.99 Panasonic VIERA 50" 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV TC-P50G10 $1249.99 Of course a kuro would be nice but i doubt im gonna see any of them for < $1500 lol Last edited by BLindsay; 12-26-2009 at 03:41 PM. My vote is for the G10....54" preferably, but 50" is fine too. The price difference isn't much so you may as well get the biggest one if you can swing it. I've seen the 50" and 54" side by side and the difference in real estate isn't huge but it is noticeable, so just get whichever best fits your budget.
The Sony LCD is a pretty good one as well should you prefer LCD, but I'd personally go with a plasma. I've seen the S1 many times, but never the U1 so I couldn't tell you, but I doubt the differences are big at all. There is a gap in black level between the S1 and G10 with the G10 being much better with blacks, so I would guess that the S1 just has a few more bells and whistles over the U1 as it seems to be more of an incremental jump. If the choice came down to the S1 and the U1 I'd probably go with the U1 for the savings. If it comes down to picture quality I'd skip both and get the G10. The Samsung plasmas are nice too. Its kind of a toss up with the B860 being thinner, but the B650 having slightly better blacks. Both deliver excellent pictures and are very color accurate. I'd skip the B550 though. Its a good set, but you can a better picture for not much more money. |

Have you been here?
I'm personally looking at the Samsung PN50B550 myself. It seems to have garnered a higher score over the Panasonics. I currently have a TH-42PX60U that has served me well for the past few years, but I'm ready for something a little bigger and capable of true 1080P to go along with my new blu-ray player I got for Christmas. I figure with my income tax return and a paycheck or two I'll be able to get that 50" Samsung in the next couple months. ![]() |

I've owned the samsung PN50B850 for around 6 weeks now and I love the set. The picture is great, i've owned a DLP, LCD, and plasma. This TV is my favorite so far, its only approx 1.5in thick which gives it a very thin, sleek design. I'm having it calibrated in a few months and its suppose to really shine.

I founld this by going into a 'Magnolia" store and asking. Online they showed none in stock. |

Ok so im gonna be getting my tax return next week so i can spend up to $1700. If i found a kuro for 2k id get that but one can dream cant he
![]() I saw at bestbuy today Panasonic TC-P58S1, 58" for $1599.99. Pretty damn big tv for that money if i do say so myself lol. Thoughts on that tv? In that price range it seems the others to consider would be 54" G10, and what sammys if any should i consider? TC-P58S1 - $1599 - 58" PN58B550 - $1669 - 58" PN58B560 - $1759 - 58" TC-P54G10 - $1645 - 54" PN50B860 - $1579 - 50" And i shouldnt consider the XBR9 or Samsung LED i take it? And how much better is the Panasonic V10 series? http://reviews.plasmatvbuyingguide.c...50-review.html The samsung seemed to get a pretty damn good review? Are you really putting a bigger TV in your bedroom? That sounds crazy and awesome at the same time! Well in my opinion, the 58 incher is a great size. That will probably be the next size I will go up to. The S series Panasonic is a great TV for the money too.

Pioneer Kuro > Panasonic > Samsung. That was based on the research I did before my plasma purchase.
I bought the Panasonic 54" S1 series this past Black Friday for what was effectively about $950 after bing CB and sears card 10%. It is amazing! But I don't have much to compare it to, my brother-in-law and dad have 720p/1080i rear projection tvs that are 6 or 7 years old. And the only other flat anything I own is a 24" ViewSonic LCD monitor I use for my computer... which is awesome as well I guess haha. |
