Default New Sub!

ok guys i sold my eD a2-300 and bought a new Epik Empire. its a dual 15 inch sealed sub with a 600 watt amp. i wanted a sub that was better at music and could still do well in HT use. so far the Epik has been great ive ran though quite a few blu rays and it handles everything without issue. it may not go as low a ported sub but the music performance 100% makes up for that since it seems ive been listening to music more than i thought i would be. maybe 60/40 movies to music.

to those sad i never did the THT built while right now id have room for a sub thats 3x3x2 when i move i doubt i would have the room so i spent a lil more money for a smaller sub than what i could diy

the other 15 is on the side you cant see

Congratulations on the new Epik sub! I think you will find the sealed design brings a lot more detail and definition to music than a ported sub. That's exactly why I have two sealed dual driver M&K subs.

Have fun with it!

Anyone looking for a good music sub in that price range should also check out Rythmik. I would argue that for 700$ there isn't a better music sub on the market. I must admit tho I've yet to hear the new epik, I'll have to see if there is anyone who can demo one near me.

rythmik was on my test list but i was unsure on its HT performance. if i went 2 channel it would for sure be chosen. also Epik is 40 miles from my house so i picked up the sub. if i dont like it i can return it. If i demoed rythmik or SVS like i wanted to i would have to pay shipping to and from if i didnt like so testing Epik was a no brainer

I can only assume it's dipole. Do you have it in a reasonably sealed room?

Rythmik has different dampening settings that allow you to control the roll off and SPL. With a flip of a couple switches you can bump up the SPL for movies. To give you an idea, in my room which is 15'x12'x78" I run a single f15 with the 300WRMS amp at about 45% to match SPL with my fronts. It's enough to pressurize the room even with out the door on. A single f15 is more then enough for that room, so you'd have to have a much larger room before you'd outpace the sub. I never really have output issues so I leave the subs on the cleaner roll off settings.

Congrats on the new sub!! Epik, SVS, and Rythmik are on my short list for subs in case my MFW-15 ever kicks the bucket.
