Default Does anyone else here push Blu-ray on others?

I know I do. I got my parents a blu-ray player for Christmas and will probably get my sister one as well for her birthday. I also give my Disney $10 coupon extras to a co-worker and sold him a couple blus I don't want anymore. Just trying to do my part to help blu-ray take the next step from mainstream to the dominant format.

I push and inform. I always tell people to get with the program and convince them why blu-ray is better than regular HD programming.

No, if less people buy into Blu-Ray, it can maintain a more elitest status, allowing me to look down my nose at more people.

I've tried to convince some of my family and coworkers of the merits of blu-ray, but I haven't had any luck yet.

I always explain the merits of Blu-Ray if people ask. I've already converted everyone in my family and several friends. Considering they all have HDTVs, it was easy for them to see the difference from DVD.

I've bought a total of 6 players as gifts now...... I will help answer questions when asked..... but I never push/sound preachy.....

I haven't purchased a player for my parents, and probably never will..... they just don't care, and they would probably be upset at me for "wasting money on something they don't need"

When someone is quite obviously trying to get a rise out of me.... by saying "Blu-rays are a waste because they cost too much, and aren't much better than DVDs played on an HD player" (I think they're talking about Upconversion there ) I just say.... "yeah... I enjoy them...."

I have a friend flying into town to stay with us for a week, and he's excited, because last time he visited was shortly after the projector was up and running...... so he's looking forward to a movie-marathon He asked me about a handful of titles, whether I had them or not....... The ones I don't have can always be rented!!!!

I think I'm gonna buy him a player as a B-Day gift..... he's got a great sized room that he wants to finish, and put a projector in....... I think I'll help "push" him over the edge....... turns out I 'push' afterall

I only insist on it when I assess that they can afford HD equipment. Otherwise, I stick to informing as well

I tell people to stay away from Bl-ray. The masses are just not sufficiently evolved enough to appreciate it.

Most of the people I know don't have HDTVs or audio systems, so there really isn't much point in Bluray for them. The few that do have hdtvs really only got it because they wanted a "flat" (LCD) TV and don't care about quality. They usually have their stuff hooked up with rca cables, it drives me INSANE.

For the record, I don't actually have an HDTV myself, just a sweet CRT SDTV but I buy blus because I notice a huge difference in audio on my sound system, and blus still look better than DVD even in SD.

I am trying to convert the wife though! She's getting Sleeping Beauty blu as a present for valentines day, she loves Disney and we don't have that on DVD.

Anytime I get in a movie discussion, I always mention blu-ray. I guess you could say I mildly push it on people. I just don't try to be pushy about it. If people don't want to buy it, it doesn't bother me too much.

I just hate those people that say, "I don't really notice a difference". Some people are just ignorant about it.

I never understood that. I showed my sister The International... THE INTERNATIONAL!! And she claimed to have barely noticed a difference. It's simply incomprehensible.
