It has been out in Australia for a few months. Good film in my books. The transfer was not bad.

Since the upcoming UK release will surely "mimic" the Australian/French/... releases, can anyone confirm this release is completely barebones?

I'm apparently one of the few people who actually enjoyed it (I guess I'm a sucker for films where people are stuck during a blizzard, and also films with Robert Prosky in it), but if it indeed is barebones I sure won't be running to pick the BD up. At least they could have ported the deleted scenes...

Yeah, I like it a lot actually.

It is bare bones. The menu is so country generic it is just icons for play, chapters, audio, subtitles, no text. I've never seen the like.

One other new thing on it was instead of a screaming antipiracy "YOU ARE A XXXXING THIEF" notice at the start, they have a nice peaceful "Thank you for purchasing this disc". About time they figured they were abusing the wrong people...

The Aus disc has the UK, Ireland, and German ratings logos on it as well so likely the same...

That's actually rather nice.

I never understood those piracy warnings on DVDs/BDs and cinemas. On the cinema, if people are paying to watch the film, why should they have to watch this "moral lesson"? The same thing with DVDs/BDs, the people who bootleg films probably remove these warnings, so the people who actually have to watch them are those who actually purchase the discs!

I don't own a single bootleg of a commercial release on any format (as an horror fan, I do have a couple of rare films on DVD-R that never got a release on the format, and I would obviously replace them with the real thing if they ever got released), so it pisses me off when sometimes I have to watch several minutes of unskipable piracy warnings when I paid for what I'm watching.

I thought the PQ was pretty good, much better than the DVD, but I just watch films and notice stuff that annoys me (eg, EE, bad black levels, lack of detail), rather than thorough as a reviewer.

AQ was standard DTS I believe.

This is the only thread I found for this film. Was anyone able to grab this? https://retrogold63.de/products/d-to...ttiert-cover-a

I saw an interview with the director and this is the only edition that carries his true full length director's cut. The DC released in the 2010 edition was the studio cut and wasn't the version he approved.

According to director Jim Gillespie the previously released director's cut was the studio cut and not his official cut. This edition brings his DC to the public for the first time and it runs for 121 minutes.

Oh that's interesting then. I'm a fan of the movie and wouldn't mind seeing a 2 hour version; but I don't want to stump up £35+ for it

I wish I knew about this edition, would have ordered it, as I'm a big Stallone fan and I love digibooks... guess I'll try ebay... darn!

Wonder if the DC on this version will be in ninth generation VHS dub quality like the version on the 88Films blu?

RetroGold63 is releasing new a new batch of the director's cut as limited edition steelbooks this Sunday. I'm interested but shipping to the US costs more that the steelbook these days... Has anyone seen the director's cut? How's the quality?
