Ilya and Alexander Salkind continue to bring the
lore and legend behind the World’s Greatest Super

Almost bought this on a overpriced DVD a couple of years ago when I was binging live action DC movies, but decided to wait for a Blu-ray. And here it is.

I just got an email from WB about this release and it put a smile on my face, no matter what people say about the movie, I an glad to own it and will buy this no matter what the reviewers say.

Interesting, just showed this to my daughter who dug it. This is the international cut right? I remember watching it on TV as a kid and thought it was bad, but the cut on the dvd actually was pretty good (way too much product placements still). I'm surprised they released this before Theatrical of Superman II, which I wish was widely available by itself, the Donner cut is interesting but come on.

It can’t be any worse than the fourth instalment and it does have Helen Slater.

.... Extended director's cut only on DVD?? Why is it that they can't just do this thing right? I mean, RIGHT? That extended cut was the better cut. Couldn't do both? Was it really that impossible?

Best news I've heard today - it may be one of the worst comic-book movies ever made, but it's still worth watching! In fact, I'd almost consider this a guilty pleasure.

It’s possible that they couldn’t source the materials for an HD of the extended cut. At least they’re giving us the international cut in HD instead of the US theatrical.

Wow. Just wow.

This is pretty much the original Anchor Bay limited edition and you are still not happy? Do you even have this edition? It has a note before the extended/director’s cut stating the materials were found in an attic in England and the effort was made to make the additions match the restored footage. Like all previous “restorations/reconstructions” by AB, it was completed in SD.

All Warner had to do was remove any references to Anchor Bay. The only reason to keep the AB LE is for the liner notes which contain reproductions of the original press kit and promotional materials.

I remember getting 14 2 discs sets from Kmart back in 2002 for $6.99 each and flipping them on Amazon (I doubled my money on them after paying for shipping). I eventually sold my copy also. Will definately pick this up once they have a sale.
