Canada Alliance Titles 9/1/09: Equilibrium, Harsh Times, Sharkboy & Lava Girl...

Another month, another batch folks. No specs yet, but I'll keep you posted. This batch isn't as exciting since there are only 3 North American exclusives, but here goes:
-The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl - 1.78:1, DTS MA, no subs; haven't seen the case/disc to verify since it seems to be somewhat limited at the moment.
-Equilibrium (this release worries me, since there's a re-framed blu in the UK already) - 1.78:1 (cover states 2.35), 1080p, DTS MA, english subs, 2 commentaries & mini featurette.
-Harsh Times - 1.85:1, 1080p, DTS MA, no subs.
-Lost In Space - 2.35:1 (confirmed), 1080i, DTS MA, no subs.

AND...
-A Hard Day's Night on September 8th!!

You may have noticed there's no US New Line titles in this batch, presumably since Alliance has no stake on them anymore in Canada, Warner does. [EDIT: Lost In Space is a New Line title, scrap the last comment]. We will also finally be getting Mr. Brooks on blu-ray here Sept. 1st. This is no exclusive since the US had an MGM/Fox release in 2007. Cover art used @ this link is the US cover, so it will change...
-Mr. Brooks (not exclusive to Canada, US release was in '07)

We will also be seeing a bunch of bundles coming out on Sept. 8th:
-Blade Trilogy
-Final Destination Trilogy
-A History of Violence/Eastern Promises/No Country for Old Men
-Blow/Seven/Traffic
-Death Proof/Planet Terror/Sin City
-Golden Compass/Inkheart/Journey to the Center of the Earth
-Kill Bill Vol. 1/Kill Bill Vol. 2/From Dusk Till Dawn
-Righteous Kill/Cop Land/Pride & Glory

Haha, yeah Sharkboy kinda surprised me. Alliance you have HOW MANY films at your disposal? And this is what you pick?

wait a minute....just realized these are all Christian Bale films. Duh.

and yeah, I hope they do Equillibrium right as well. One of my all time faves. 1080p, OAR intact, DTS-HD.

I would bet good money that Equilibrium comes in a misframed transfer like the UK import.

Might pick up Equilibrium if it is done properly. I never seen the whole thing but I have seen clips and it is pretty cool.

I'm glad to see Harsh Times getting a Blu-ray release. It's a very underrated film.

It's OK for one watch. It's probably up there in my top 5 movies that have the least amount of replay value. There's no redeeming qualities to Christian Bale's character whatsoever.

I watch movies because of the entertainment factor. Great films entertain me whether they are dark or fun and full of popcorn. I love film, and greatness entertains me. And you know what? Sometimes it's so fun to see the darkness in man put on the screen.

Sweet. This is a movie I don't really need extras on but IMDB lists it as 2.35:1 so I'm a bit worried we'll be getting a misframed Blu.

No word yet, release is still over a month away. May hear something during the week before release, but who knows. My guess is that it will be the improper ratio.

hey guys, didn't think this merits creating its own thread, so I thought I'd sneak it in here since its an Alliance title. I plan to pick up Pan's Labyrinth but noticed that in addition to the widely available copy, amazon.ca also has one up for pre-order, with a release date of August 11. Anyone know if there is anything special about this version? The web page doesn't really reveal much.
