Default Newbie questions-True HD Surround with this?

Hey guys. I am moving into a house in a week and now want to truly enjoy my bluray movies. I want to get true hd surround on a budget, but not sure if that is possible and am really unsure on what to get. I know it's asking A LOT when it comes to Home Theater, but I would love to stay in the 300 hundred dollar range. I'm not an audiofile and don't need the best thing out there but would like to be able to get true hd surround. I was looking at a few other threads and saw someone mention the SONY HT-SS360 5.1-Channel System and read the reviews on NEWEGG. Sounds great, but will this give me true HD Surround? Will it really show off bluray sound quality?
The Onkyo TX-SR606 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel, seems to also be recommended, but with that I'm still looking at having to get speakers.
That brings me to another question. I have a set of old surround speakers from a dvd player/surround zenith package and was thinking I could just use those for now. They are the type that just have exposed wire and they connected via black and red "clips" or "push tabs" on the back of the dvd player. So does anyone know of a good entry level Hd surround receiver that would have those tabs so I could use my old speakers?
