Default Help for a newbie

First, thanks for taking the time to help me. Here is my situation....

I purchased the Panasonic DMP-BD10A a few weeks ago from Circuit City. I took it home and the disc slot would not open. I returned that unit and exchanged it for a different one. The next one I brought home worked but would freeze up every 10 minutes or so playing both of the Pirates discs and the Transporter. When it did work, the picture and sound were incredible. I was pretty upset at this point so I returned the Panasonic and bought the Sony BDP-S300.

My problem is this, I dont think the Sony looks as good. Maybe I am crazy, but the picture quality is not even as crisp as my cable running at 1080i. I have everything running via HDMI through my receiver to my Aquos.

I am actually pretty disapointed in the Sony. I would like to return it and get the Panasonic but I am worried about it freezing up. I have been trying to read up on this forum to find more information and it seems I may have had a Panasonic with old firmware.

Should I return the Sony and get the Panasonic? Or should I wait until newer units come out?

Thanks for any help.
