Default Nintendo Wii & PS3 owners

I just had a PS3 for a long time but a couple months back i finally broke down and got a wii..And its actually pretty fun. Me & my wife have friends come over and play bowling and its pretty competitive and funny.

I downloaded alot of the old mario games which is a good reason to have one..i have

super mario bros.
super mario bros 2
super mario bros 3
super mario world
super metroid
& donkey kong

I enjoy having both the systems...ps3 for blu rays and games and the wii just for fun games and old school ones.

I purchases mario galaxy, resident evil 4 & the new punch out.
All of those games surprisingly fun.

Just wondering what games you guys have & what downloaded old school games you have and suggest....from a ps3/wii owners perspective.

My friend brought a Wii over to play some weeks ago, I said "Over my dead body" and we played Goldeneye and Mario Kart on my N64 instead.

No Wiimote or nunchuk is getting anywhere near my TV. You kidding? Bunch of drunk college students? I've seen enough videos on youtube to say, "No wii-playing in my household"

hahahaha well thats why you wear the strap for your wrist.

But yea i always was against the wii...But my wife & son always wanted one and i have a ps3..felt like i would share the love..and now that we got it..i actually enjoy it myself. It has free online and connects to the net wireless like my ps3 does....i thought about getting a xbox but will not pay for online and will not pay for a wireless adapter...i mean cmon the wii is wireless at least lol. But yea anyone that likes the old school stuff will like the wii just for that purpose...i still love playing super mario world.

I have all three systems, (like options ) my favorites for each system are: Xbox 360 Gears of War, Wii Punch Out, and PS3 Infamous.

What is the point in downloading the games when you have working originals....

I like the Wii, it is fun. For first person shooters or any other motion active game it gets tiring. Who wants to flop their hands around while trying to hardcore game??? I really wish I had a PS3 for those, but would rather bitstream audio... Yes, I like lights!

I have both a PS3 and Wii.
I have been playing ALOT of mario kart lately. Online is addictive.
I have downloaded The legend of Zelda, Mega Man 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2.

Twilight Princess is an excellent Wii game. If you like Zelda, this is a great game.

I have both systems and the 360 as well. Some cool stuff on all of the systems.

While the Wii does have a bad wrap in terms of the amount of crud that is out for the system, there is still some very good stuff out for it, so I don't regret owning it.

Without going into details, I have my Wii "set-up" to be able to play games from other regions, and I'm thrilled to have Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (It's a Marvel-Vs-Capcom-eque game that only came out in Japan and puts the Capcom characters up against a bunch of anime characters). Unfortunately this game is not likely to see a US release from what I understand.... the rights to the anime characters are all owned by one company (Tatsunoko) in Japan, but are all split up in the US and elsewhere. So, I'll have to settle for this in the mean time.

The only old school game I've downloaded is Street Fighter II, of SNES fame. It's a perfect port, and a ton of fun to play.

[Show spoiler]I will kill anyone in this forum at Mario Kart Wii.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Force Unleashed is a great cardio workout on the Wii.

I actually find it kind of funny that they are putting out "perfect ports" of the old SNES versions of games like Street Fighter II, which in reality were imperfect ports of the original arcade versions.

I remember back in those days when it came to games like SFII and the Mortal Kombat series, I was always trying to get the console port that came closest as possible to the arcade (none were ever perfect back then, but some came closer than others). And for the most part, it seemed like most people back then who played these games wished the home console ports were closer to the original arcade versions.

But now we've got the "lesser" versions downloadable on things like the Wii Virtual Console, even though that system is more than capable of running the full arcade version of the game.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the SNES port for the sake of nostalgia, but the whole concept still seems kind of funny to me.

Same.

I eBayed Mario Galaxy and this game Endless Ocean, which is where you dive in the ocean. It was fun for a weekend, but lost its charm.

Lego Star Wars and Star Wars: Force Unleasehd are pretty great, too.

As for downloaded games, I think I have:

- All the Marios you listed
- Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- Gradius
- Tecmo Bowl (HUGE letdown; none of the teams/players are the same due to licensing)
- Zelda
Maybe a few others that I can't recall right now.

I've had a Wii for about a year and still haven't bought a new game. I've downloaded Super Mario 3, Punch Out, Streets of Rage 3, and Super Mario World. I might buy the new Punch Out since it looks pretty good. I've also got a PS3 because the Wii isn't the system I would choose to play games like Madden or NCAA Football or The Godfather 2.

How can you say "gimmick" when Wii console sales continue to beat the pants off the PS3 and 360 and still remain strong?

The Wii has gone through 2 Xmas seasons and not been able to keep up with demand. How many gimmicks pull that off?

Anyways, we've got Wii Kart and play it a lot. No downloads of classics though.

I like the WII, but after about 4 months of playing it, it's literally never touched anymore. I can honestly say it has been turned on once in the last 4-5 months.
